I had a tech come in and network my 2 computer togethers via DSL. I told him wanted to make sure all my favorites and yahoo bookmarks went into the new computer. He leaves and I cannot find any older files in the new computer from the older one. Both will stay up and running, but I will exclusively be using the new one. Someone help me get my favorites from IE into my new machine!!!!

Open My Computer and follow this folder link as I typed it.

My Computer/C:/Documents and Settings/________(find your user)/Favorites

In the folder is all your favorites from your Internet Explorer. Select all of them and right click one of them and click copy and then paste the bookmarks in a folder shared on the network. Now on the new machine, find that Network folder and select the bookmarks and follow the same path above to set them in the favorites folder.

Open Internet Explorer
Go to the File menu and select Import/Export
Select that you want to Export bookmarks
It will create a small file
Copy that file over to the new computer (fit on a floppy, email to yourself, whatever)
Open IE on the new computer
File > Import/Export
Import that file
You will have all your bookmarks.

Real easy.

If you are using windows XP you can use files and settings transfer wizard located in accessories, system tools.
Or you can open up your browser, click on file, choose import and export, choose export favorites and follow the prompts. Once it is done you can copy or email the file to yourself or put on a USB flash drive and save to pc #2. On pc #2 open up the browser , click on file , choose import and export and choose import. it will ask you where the file is. Assuming you move the files over from PC#1 to PC#2 you should be able to point it to the correct location to import from.

I found a website for you that describes exactly how to do this. You could just save your favorites onto a floppy instead of the H: drive talked about in the article if that's easier for you. The H: drive in this article is a network drive, which there's a good chance you don't have configured

I think You need to copy the Favorites from your Old computer.
To do this, copy the favorite files from C:\Documents and Settings\ " user account " \Favorites

and then paste them in the same path in your New Computer

Your favorites folder is located under Mycomputer/documents and settings/username.

Simply the folder to yourself and open it on the other computer, or copy it to a disk or flash drive. Easy!!

Email the folder to your new computer.
The folder is called favourites and is in your C:\Documents and Settings\"User name"\Favourites.
You can use a program such as Tugzip to compress this folder into a file and then email it to yourself on the other computer.
