Sure, a parent could bring their child into the doctor & request a depo shot, same as any other medication.
Obviously, that won't protect their child from any STD's, but it would keep them free from pregnancy, anyway.

no in order to get the shot u have to have a pap and a parent can not force a child into thta and if they scared them into doing it they are wrong. if the child told the doc that they did not want it done then the doc can't do it. children are not property. Birth control is not for everyone. when i was on teh shot it made me bleed for 6 months straight and have horrible pains. if a girl does not want a pap or to be on birth control i don't think anyone has the right to force anyone. that's like forcing somone to be sterile for a while. Imagine if you were 14 years old and your parents "forced" you into getting a papsmear and having some doctor stick a speculum in you, how violating is that?
ps bc is not for everyone and can be dangerous. if a young teenager is still going through puberty why would u mess with that???? educate ur child instead

Well, take it this way. Stoping a natural thing is going to cause problems no matter what. If rain stopped then the earth would be dirty, not to mention most water cannot get purified. There are MANY health harrords that can even be fatal from that. Not to mention you might even ruin her life forever by some sickness while your forcing her to do something. I'd propbly runnaway from my Mom then to jump infront of a car if my Mom gave me an entire life illness not to mention taking away my reproduction rights for quite awhile!

I don't think parents can 'force' their kids to take birth control, but if the parents are encouraging it why would the kids say no?
IMHO it is much smarter to have birth control and not need it then to need it and not have it, and I think some other moms feel the same way I do!

I don't think that is an option....
A better option would be to take the kid to the NorthWest territories and let her grow up among the elk and bears.
If parents were actually so much more aware of the sexual activity of teenagers, they would be a lot less likely to allow the practice to continue.

No you can not, especially a teenager. They have rights. I work in the medical field and for all you know your child might be on birth control and you dont even know it. The best thing to do would be to talk with your child about sex and what to do to prevent from getting pregnant or worse and STD.

I wish.
If a teen did not want to take an oral contraceptive I suppose a parent could ask that a depo injection be done. Some one would probably file a lawsuit on behalf of the teen stating her reproductive rights were being violated.
