The population of France, as estimated in late 2006, is 60,742,000.

This seems reasonable.

The figure given by the website below probably reflects all those who have ever lived in France from the beginning of time: "According to the 2006 census survey, metropolitan France had a population of 61,167,000 million". If mathematics serves me right, that's 6.1 trillion.

Stop carping about India and China and SHUT DOWN FRANCE!
