I haven't been on YA very long, but my best guess would be YES.

It seems some of these "circles" won't let you in either. I made contact with someone who has a lot of experience in YA and they just kind of blew me off :-(

Building up a network becomes almost unavoidable if you spend some time on Y/A and with some contacts a sort of mutual appreciation develops. But I don't always star and I certainly don't always give them best answer.
In fact I am a 'fan' of only 4 people on Y/A, there are more that
thoroughly deserve to be but, to big a network would make me feel hemmed in. It defeats the purpose of Y/A.
And I never ever look at the 'show who starred' before deciding
on who to award 10 pts, best answer is best answer.
I've asked something similar a few weeks ago, though not in
terms as polite as you just did.

No. I give the best answer to who I think gave the best answer. I star when I like the question.

I have a hard time answering questions outside of my contacts as for giving best answers I will usually pick one of my contacts only because they are so smart and witty they always give best answer!!!

I do try to answer their questions first and star them if I think they are interesting questions that make me think.

i would say ,yes,kind of a loyalty thing.if they're nice enough to want to be your fan,then you have an obligation to them.it doesn't mean that you don't give other people a chance as well.

i will look at their answers first, but they don't always get best answer...whoever makes me laugh hardest gets that.
