The Browns are 8-22 against division opponents over the last five seasons. Over the last three seasons, they are 2-4 vs. Balt., 1-5 vs. Cinci & 0-6 vs. Pitt. Until they find a way to compete in their six division games every season, they're going to be hard-pressed to come up with enough non-division wins to be 8-8 or better.

Here's their schedule for the upcoming season:

1 Sun, Sep 9 Pittsburgh - Right now, the Steelers have their number.
2 Sun, Sep 16 Cincinnati - The Battle of Ohio hasn't been much of a fight lately, but a win might be possible here.
3 Sun, Sep 23 at Oakland - The Browns had better win this one;
4 Sun, Sep 30 Baltimore - Free agent losses aside, Baltimore may still be the best team in the division;
5 Sun, Oct 7 at New England - Nnnnnext;
6 Sun, Oct 14 Miami - Miami has boom-or-bust potential this season;
7 BYE WEEK
8 Sun, Oct 28 at St. Louis - The Browns *might* win against an aging Rams team;
9 Sun, Nov 4 Seattle - Nnnnnext;
10 Sun, Nov 11 at Pittsburgh - Ouch;
11 Sun, Nov 18 at Baltimore - Ouch ouch;
12 Sun, Nov 25 Houston - A winnable game;
13 Sun, Dec 2 at Arizona - Another winnable game;
14 Sun, Dec 9 at NY Jets - Still another winnable game;
15 Sun, Dec 16 Buffalo - Last winnable game of the season;
16 Sun, Dec 23 at Cincinnati - Cinci + run to the playoffs = Bengals win (last season was a fluke);
17 Sun, Dec 30 San Francisco - The Niners have improved & may also be making a run for the playoffs here.

If the Browns can be at least 3-3 going into the Bye week & can win those four games Nov. 25-Dec. 16, they have a reasonable shot at .500, a slight chance at even more. But one or two slip-ups along the way & they're looking at a high draft pick again.

The clock is ticking on Crennel either way. Even if the team decides they want to keep him, he might not want to stay.

i think its possible.. there is a fine line in the NFL between 5 or 6 wins and 8 or 9 wins... in their last playoff year they could have easily been 11-5 (not 9-7) if they would have finished a couple of games they had won. They aren't elite, but they could easily compete for the wild card if they play well. Then again, they could slip again and if they do... Crennell is gone.

Crennel made the worse decision of his career by taking the Cleveland job.... They don't have the talent to compete in that division and it will cost him his shot at a head coaching job... The silver lining is everyone knows that Crennel is a good coach so he will catch on as an assistant once he is fired.... Unfortunately he made a big mistake by jumping at the first offer he received....

No chance, the Bengals the Ravens and the Steelers will beat them down, BUT I think it would be ridlicious to let him go. Eventually they will be a good team and I feel its obvious Crennel is a good coach who COULD be a great coach. Let Quinn devolope, let the O-Line mesh, let that defense grow and keep continuity and they have a great chance of being a playoff team in 2008. The Ravens are on their way out, Pittsburg is all but dead and who KNOWS whatll happen to Cincy.

8-8 record in the AFC is a task....especially for a team that only LOOKS like they MIGHT be good this year....They did do very well in the draft, but it's the AFC....Crennel might have to go soon, even though it really isn't his fault that the Browns are mediocre every year, it's a collective blame....

NO WAY!!! They are the worst team in their division (6 losses) and they have New England and they will lose at least 2 of their games vs. NFC West opponents= 7-9 season for the mistakes by the lake.

The only good news is that with Jamal Lewis in the backfield, the games will be able to be close instead of complete blowouts

definite, imo Brown deserved CotY this season. He does not permit his adult adult males permit up till they clinched the NBA's superb checklist. The greater-experienced Lakers have been respiratory down their necks all twelve months, or perhaps led them for a stable area of the season. With a large gamble to tie the best-ever superb homestead court docket checklist (40-a million) he rested his substantial adult adult males in the excellent popular season pastime... the playoffs are the main needed factor to this guy. BQ: i think of if I had to wager on a team, i could wager on the Lakers to overcome the Cavs in the finals. which would be a large series to observe if it includes bypass. BQ2: definite, Lakers are in. He did an surprising activity this twelve months.

Well if it can happen with the Saints than I guess so. I think 7-9 or 8-8 are good predictions.
