But they did not elaborate how they could reduce abortions, why is that?

Does that mean they will state abstinence should be taught in schools? or do they think more young girls should have access to birth control? Birth Control pills have been linked to an increase in breast cancer as they get older during hormonal changes.

Isn't reducing abortions the same thing as saying we need to reduce drug abuse, please stop injecting heroin or snorting cocaine and just smoke pot then maybe you will eventually stop smoking pot ?? Is this more *demmie spinning the issues*?

""No, it does not mean abstience education. Are you that short sighted?

It is about giving people equal access to education and health care. You'd be surprised how much education and proper health care would reduce the need for abortion.""

so how is health care going to reduce abortions? Is having a checkup from the doctor going to stop women from getting pregnant? I just dont see what you mean.

And what kind of education are you talking about? you said no abstinence education but then you said we need education... so what kind of education do you mean Rachel.

Nancy Reagan and Ronald Reagan weren't liberals when she suggested the same thing with drugs: "Just Say No". Or, are you too young to remember. You're right, it didn't work. But that's probably not what Dems mean.
If you want to reduce the number of abortions, you teach sex education in the schools from the time a girl and boy are right before puberty and during puberty. And, you teach them all options of birth control. You take the mysticism out of it and give them true knowledge and educate them in a real way. And, you teach children about their bodies from a very early age. This is known to reduce the amount of abortions in a population. This is true in Europe and it could be true here. And, you raise the education quality in the school and afterschool programs in the country. It's known to work.

boy , I agree with the DEms on reducing abortions. the government DOES need to step in and control this issue. I think, if you are under 18....a parent HAS to know (or guardian) and make the choice with the minor. Discuse ALL areas of topics..like adoption, what not. Try to convince what is the best way.

I think over 18 people need to go through a mandatory education process about abortion...not just the simple quick chit chat about it like they do. And, only allow abortions at the VERY early stages. THey bend the rules ALL the time.

Teaching abstinence only "education" in school is a joke.
Kids will still have sex it just will not be safe sex.
This increases the likelihood of pregnancy as well as getting a STD.

If you want to reduce the abortion rate, the kids in school need to be taught safe sex practices. As in, if you are going to have sex, this is how to avoid getting pregnant or catching a disease.

Unfortunately the religious Nazis throw a fit about teaching real sex education is somehow being immoral.

Typical Christian anti-education propaganda.

Oh, and then there's the fact that we are number 28 in the world in terms of infant mortality and our numbers are on the rise. Let's take care of children in the womb and outside of it.

Teaching abstinence in schools is ridiculous. Teenagers should have access to birth control. It has been proven to work time and time again, yet for some reason people keep pushing abstinence.

Schools should give out the facts on it. Its not up to a school to teach morality that is up to parents.

From 1973 through 1993, 16 of 20 years with Republicans in charge, the abortion rate went up. From 1993 through 2001, 8 years with a Democrat in charge, the abortion rate went down. Don't believe me? Look it up. Not exactly what the "Christian" "conservatives" had in mind, was it?
