You could possibly be 3-4 months pregnant and your family doctor had no way of helping you find out if indeed you are pregnant? A simple trans vaginal ultrasound takes about 5 minutes to do and will tell you definitively if there is indeed a baby inside of you. That makes absolutely no sense.

The gyno will give you an ultrasound and you will know if you are indeed pregnant from that alone. If not, then they will run other tests to see what is going on. Good luck!

A blood test is the most effective test for pregnancy.
I am sure that your ob/gyn will be able to answer your questions for you. Usually ultrasounds are used to check on a pregnancy, not to check if there is a pregnancy. If you require on, the doctor will book one for you (it is a seperate appointment, done in a different location by different people). The ultrasound is painless. You go in with a full bladder, lay on a table and they put some gel on your belly, and then place the ultrasound wand on you and move it around. You can see the pictures on the screen (they are not very clear, you need to be trained to really be able to know what you are looking at).
Best of luck to you.

HOLY CRAP! You are that late and just now getting to the doctor!!!!!! Shame!! You could be 4 months pregnant and have had absolutely no care for your baby! Anyways they will confirm pregnancy or no pregnancy and do a health history and blood work and give you a lot of information if you are and most likely do an u/s because you are so far along. I hope the baby is ok if you are preggers!!

I would first ask for a pelvic exam. Usually docs can tell if you are pregnant this way. An ultrasound however will tell you for sure because they will be able to see if there is a heart beat or not. Good luck!

They will take your blood to do a pregnancy test. You may have a gyno checkup, and if pregnant they will take more blood and do a battery of test that every pregnant woman should do to rule out complications.

They'll do blood tests, take your weight, blood pressure, urine sample. They'll probably want to do an ultrasound. Have you gained any weight, or feel a "heaviness" down below? Best wishes to you and *baby dust*

wow!! it took along time for them to get it right! Your dr will do a pelvic exam and pap smear, and an ultrasound to onfirm the pregnancy. Its really exciting, good luck!!!

i think your dr might do a urine test. And possibly will do an ultrasound if you've missed your period for that long already.
