Haha, "Nobody likes a name-dropper.." You got that right! She is a pretty self-absorbed bag of wind... She created a show with the pupose of sharing the views of all different types of people, but as long as their not too politically incorrect or too adverse from what the masses think. Dare to disagree and you might lose your job! She's scared she might lose a life-changing interview if too many political figures are attacked on her show. Phony, phony, phony.

I've thought about this question for awhile, and I'm glad to see another cares to actually ask it. I think her reputation has taken a hit. It's hard to believe this is the same woman who was a co-host with Harry Reasoner on World News Tonight in the 1970's--a real pioneer in the news business. Her reputation was enhanced by doing some of the best interviews in the business--with major world leaders, and more recently sticking mostly with entertainment celebrities, another unfortunate occurrence in recent times.
The person who I think must be shaking his head the most is Hugh Downs, who started hosting 20/20 and was later joined by Walters. They set a gold standard that has not been replicated since the two of them left. It was about class and great stories. Now, Walters seems associated with one controversy to the next. If it's not Star Jones, it's something with Rosie O'Donnell. Maybe this works well in the Nielsen ratings race. However, it is beneath her to be in the mud with these clowns. Her obituary would have started with her groundbreaking efforts in news and interviewing prowess. Now, it will be the silliness that she allowed to transpire in her later years on television.

I agree with everything you said and I will add she will talk about anyone's problems except the ones at the view. I have so much respect for Star for telling the truth and not going along with the lie Barbra cooked up so you forgot she is a liar to. Her name dropping is suffering also because she is being shut out of rubbing elbows with important people and that is why she is now discussing her call from Cathy Hilton no one important is calling these days. People do not want to be around her to be used for fodder on the View so her respect as a respected newswoman has been missing for a long time. She thinks she is sexy and cute when she plays that role but she is revolting. She is kissing Rosie's rump because she is so afraid of what she will tell and since Rosie don't have Star's class she should be afraid we will hear it all before it is over. Her judgment stinks if you remember she said after Star left that Star had no class and chose to leave on her own terms but after Rosie refused to return all she could do is heap praise on her and talk about their great friendship. I could go on but I have taken long enough to enjoy the view thanks for the question so I could enjoy it.

She's lost her credibility. You're right about her always just have talked to the person in the news and knows the "inside" story. She said she talked to Paris Hilton's mother the evening Paris went to jail. That sort of thing. She's a goodie two-shoes and talks out of both sides of her mouth.
I don't see how she can continue to call herself a journalist.
P.S. Did you know her daughter Jackie is adopted? lol lol :-) Im like you. If she says that one more time!!!

It was hilarious when Saturday Night Live's Gilda Radner impersonated Baba, as she called her. Gilda had Baba's lisp down to a science. After Gilda died of cancer, Barbara Walters went on and on about how Gilda had hurt her itty bitty feelings. Talk about being self absorbed. Did you know Jackie is adopted?????

I used to think she was a serious journalist with an impressive career. But now with the View I see her as more of an airhead.

You certainly know a lot about the show for someone who doesn't like it.
She still has big interview contracts, and can call almost any world leader on the phone.
She is the show creator and had a huge reputation before this show ever came on the air.
Save your brain and just watch Price is right.

Uh... if you don't like her or the show, don't watch? I mean I know this may seem like an OBVIOUS solution, but I thought I would throw that out there in case you hadn't thought of it before.
