To build on the first two answers, it also stems strongly from close-minded people. People who fear and therefor become malevolent and beligerent to that which they don't understand. The best cure for this is education, and of course to be raised to keep an open mind.

i think it comes in various guises.
And if it can be taught,it would be a crime not to blame others.
Perhaps it is superceeded in our world,by, for example, where does the poverty come from or where does
the violence come from.
If this is the case then there would be a reason for these
impressive and intelligent answers,
Perhaps some of the so-called intelligent people of our time
are playing catch-up with those who have virtually no education;and when they do catch-up,the present intelligent
system of rote learning may be seen to be antiquated and
anachronistic; and so changed.
(and as i constantly say,it is bound-up with that ideology,
born roughly at the same time as mass education, which we-
should-by now all know as darwinism).

You say that like Ignorance is an evil force or something? Ignorance is just the lack of knowledge to be ignorant of most things is not a crime because our minds are not infinite and even if they are our time to experience things limiting. Ignorance should be faught where you see it with wisdom and love. So every time you saw a question without an impressive answer irl maybe its your responsiblity to fill that gap.
For the most part Ignorance comes from the wise man saying nothing when he should have. Because the wise man is the one seeing the ignorance yet not doing anything about it they are the one responsible for it imo. But I highly doubt they will get the punishment for it even if they wanted to.

Ego. The concept of the self is the problem, people get wrapped up in their little lives thinking they are worth more or less the other people when in fact they are exactly equal. Everyone is born and everyone dies, we are all in this great mystery together all obeying the same laws of the universe (physical laws, of motion, gravity, cause and effect, etc.), but this idea that we are separate (i.e. to be metaphorical, not painted on the same canvas) deludes people into thinking temporary items likes cars, houses, money, etc. are "theirs", as if the universe cares. All of these things will fall apart given enough time, just as we will, but people think of them as permanently theirs. People identify with these items, or groups, and strengthen the idea of the self, which leads to fights, wars, theft, murder, etc. You can't have my car, thats mine! Stop, or I'll shoot! These sorts of selfish acts, well all events really, have a ripple of cause and effect and this ripple effect often has more negative connotations when its rooted in the self (a perfect example is wars, which start with one or a couple people in power transmitting their intent, their personal goals). A selfless act, on the other hand, has countless positive effects and people admire the person who made the act. An perfect example of this was the executed convict about a month ago that for his last meal he wanted a veggie pizza delivered to a homeless person. The State said no, he passed on his last meal, and he was killed. A couple days later, in response to the lack of compassion of the State and the compassion of the doomed man, thousands of dollars were invested in pizza donations for the homeless all over the US. If that doesn't show you the power of a selfless act, I don't know what will :). Unfortunately the world are all deluded in one way or another (myself included) but because of ego, they will always think they are correct. Right now, no matter what you think, you think you are correct. Even when you think you are wrong, you think you are right about the fact you think you are wrong. The self is just a concept, like the concept of math, or a cake. It isn't a cake, it's a mass of different molecules bonded together with various confections. "Cake" is just a concept used to casually speak about a complex object, but to say that the concept of "cake" is as deep as the mystery of those molecules goes is simply wrong. There is no such thing as a cake in the objective world, there is only the bubbling particles and energies in that particular configuration which evoke taste-sensations (chemical reactions). So why don't more people see this? Why so much ignorance, as you said? Because most people confuse the concept, the mental placeholder, for what actually is. If I were at a party and said there was in fact no cake there at all, I would be looked at like I was crazy. But there is no cake there, just as there is no spoon (hehe I had to throw that one in there). A lot of people are also afraid of deeper questions and answers like this because it starts to bring up the questions of death and mortality, and in the western world (or at least the US) that is something no one wants to discuss extensively.

Maybe they haven't found Yahoo Answers yet! I think about this a lot too. I think it comes from fear of change, lack of education and selfishness. People get wrapped up in their day to day activities and forget to look outside their limited circle. I think The News in America gets people freaked out too. It scares them into hiding their head in the sand.
