Ok so I went on Craigslist and saw that a women was paying $5 an hour for a 50 hr week job....
Its a public forum...so i emailed her and told her that how can she possibly expect someone to work 50 hrs a week as BELOW miniumum wage in our state.....
anyway she emailed me nastty back saying "oh well its gonna be some illegal immigrant anyway, moron, so it doesnt matter how much I pays..leave me alone"
i emailed back saying "that it was horrible ,what kind of person was she to do that, its illegal, and that how can that be the quality care she is looking for for her kids, goodbye"
i put a post up on craigslist warning people this women was looking to hire an illegal immigrant to take advantage of them
so this womens find out my name and contacts my school ( it was (my email adrress@my school.com) and emails them and tells them i am harrassing her. she also said she contacted "local authorities" for abuse and harrassment?
who is right her or me??? can i get in trouble ??

You have the right to report people to Craigslist who are attempting to use their services to conclude illegal transactions.
It is against the law to pay less than minimum wage (if it was straight hourly wage, and there was no provision for room and board), and in most states, workers must be paid time-and-a-half for each hour over forty worked per week.
The harrassment charge is bogus, just her fear getting her to act irrationally. For your own benefit though, why not just get a free and anonymous yahoo-type email that doesn't mention your school or your name?

She is doing something that is illegal. If you verbally abused her (i.e. cursing) then she has some claim.
She is the one continuing this argument. I seriously think you could actually sue her for harrassment. Getting in touch with your school over a matter between two individuals on an open forum is defamation.

It would be best to turn her over to the Labor board in your state. I don't think she has much of a harassment case against you....just turn it over to the authorities and let them handle it.
Sounds as though she took the easiest path to try to intimidate you (by contacting the school).
Even though she 'said' she contacted the local authorities, I would doubt it form the information you provided.
So much for being a good Samaritan. Lay low and let people with authority handle this issue.

If what you posted is true, and you are not calling her house or work endlessly, Only posting on a website. It is not harrassment, and you could sue her for slander., and file for harrassment. As you only went online, their are no laws prohibiting that and the fact that she was online first and provided her information. When she started calling your school and filing reports with the police for something that is not illegal, she is harassing you and slandering you.

you are totally right and i feel you should contact the authorities explaining she's hiring illegal immigrants. unfortuantely, she could make your life a living hell- so it's up to you! but I would try to fight her- legally. if you know anyone who knows the laws ask for some aide. send me her email address, i'll give her a piece of my mind.
good luck

Tell that ***** to go jump in a lake.
In public forums (i.e. craigslist/answers.yahoo.com) there is no regulation of speech excluding the posted rules by the forum administrator.
You are right.

Babysitting does not have a minimum wage. She is correct. You really can't get in trouble, but you should stop now before you DO get into trouble.

You should have simply emailed the cops or better business bureau or used an anonymous email. However, I would state that she could be investigated as well and that you will fight fire with fire. Stay firm.

Ding-dong, dont use that info on the net, geez, look at ya now!! Unfortunately...our laws govern us more then the folks 'who are just visiting, earning money to send home, or get their kids free health care of education' so you better be more careful~
