I know years ago there was a tv show Cagney & lacey... But I haven't really heard that name in forever. I thought, how cute! Just wanted to put it out there and see what you all think?

One of the ways I test names for girls is to hear them in various accents. Say it as an Engllishman, a Scot, with an Irish Accent, From New York, French, Italian, Spanish, Hindi, and the like. Ladies need to have a name THEY love, and we must remember that children can be most unkind in school with nick names--what is a likely nick name for Cagney?
Cag? Caggie? Agnes? Nee-Nee?
If you don't come up with something sweet, it could come back to bite you later! Listen to other's ideas, and go with your musical ear--none of us love any sound better than the sound of our own name, it is so personal, and needs to flow from our lips, and other's as well, into our soul and heart!

I know a girl named Lincoln, and her family refused to call her
Link, or Connie, or anything else--it falls a little flat for me, personally. Kids at school drew a beard on her annual photo. Good Luck!

Her name was Christine Cagney on Cagney and Lacy. There's also James Cagney. I don't think Cagney is good for a first name, the kids will make fun and call your child Gag-me.

No, I don't like that name for a girl. When I read it I thought of James(Jimmy) Cagney, who was an actor(I think) years and years ago.

If I was inspired by that show I think I would use the name
Tyne instead.
Carly is okay, Cagney is like Dagmar, not so feminine.
