i think the question "If there is no outside, where are we?"
is less literal and more philosophical dealing with the contrast between existence and absolute nothing.
Of course no one knows for sure what is outside.
I know the worlds largest atom smasher in France is trying to find out.
They hypothesize that we are a part of a multi-universe universe, meaning that all are connected. Yet, each universe follow the laws of physics and math of their own. If that is reality, then I'm sure some are life supporting while others remain, in their immensity, lifeless... philosophically... isn't that nothing too!(until we ourselves discover it's existence)
Where we are, is in a place of consciousness. Our cosmos has become self aware. So, where ever here is.. it is ultimately lost in our life time.

Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.
- Albert Einstein
If you define the universe as the space in which everything exists, then anywhere you go is within the universe.
Sadly, the real answers are more complicated. Space itself is probably constrained by the curvature of space time caused by the existence of matter (gravity). This curvature is bound to be extreme at the "edge" of the universe, and therefore there is actually nothing to breach... You travel towards the "edge" and find yourself curving back to the "inside".
Sorry I can't be more helpful.

well the universe will expand into nothingness and hence there is no real edge to the universe.Stephen Hawking wrote in one of his books on this topic(check wikipedia for more information and if your really interested buy the book-i think it is "A Briefer History of Time").
