I don't think the Bible covered legal separations. You were married and you stayed together unless one of you died or committed a sin that would allow you to divorce.

"Every one that putteth away his wife, and marrieth another, committeth adultery: and he that marrieth one that is put away from a husband committeth adultery" (Luke 16:18).
"A wife is bound for so long time as her husband liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is free to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord" (1 Cor. 7:39).
The phrase “except for marital unfaithfulness” is the only thing in Scripture that possibly gives God’s permission for divorce and remarriage.
"And I say to you, whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery; and whoever marries her who is divorced commits adultery." Matthew 19:9
Adultery, of course, is one of the "big 10 thou shalt nots"
Edited to add: Divorce in Biblical times referred to separation. Neither legal divorce nor separation existed at that time. The couple physically separated.
Edited to add more: I just found another passage.
"Deuteronomy 24:1-2 refers to divorce and remarriage: "When a man hath taken a wife, and married her, and it come to pass that she find no favour in his eyes, because he hath found some uncleanness in her: then let him write her a bill of divorcement, and give it in her hand, and send her out of his house. And when she is departed out of his house, she may go and be another man's wife."
Divorce was a practice that had been imported by the ancient Hebrews from adjacent Middle-Eastern Pagan cultures, where it was a universal custom, along with slavery and polygyny. This passage allowed a man to divorce his wife (or wives). She was then free to remarry another man. However, it did not allow a woman to divorce her husband. It is unclear what the term "uncleanness" means. Presumably it does not mean that she had committed adultery, because then she would have been executed by stoning.

The bible says that if you come to Christ before u are married then you are free from that marriage but if you were married after you came to Christ then you can't get a divorce unless you or him com minted adultery which makes you free from the Law. Legal separations are acceptable only to join back together depending if u were married in Christ. *********************************************1 1Corinthians Chapter 7 verse 11
But even if she does depart, let her remain unmarried or be reconciled to her husband.

It doesn't.
It also doesn't talk about nuclear generated electricity, cars, microwaves, cellphones, iPods, indoor plumbing, airplane food, a Master's degree in business, asphalt paving, going to Brighton in the mall, and thong underwear.
Yet you have managed to figure out all of that, without explicit printed words from God.
Do the same for legal separations.

There is marriage and there is divorce.
I don't recall anything about separation in the bible.
FYI, its still just a book.
Faith is in the heart.
Faith that tomorrow will be better than today.
Faith that your marriage will get better.
Faith that what you are doing is the right thing.

I hardly think God contemplated legal separations 2000 years ago. If you are so worried about what God will think about your failing marriage, go see a minister.
