I saw this question earlier where some nut was angry that her family won't give her money because they over exetended themselves, didn't save, and were now broke.

Is it cool to ask family for money when the reason you are broke is because you tried to be a big shot and it blew up in you face?

No. You should know your limits on how much you can spend. If your family keeps bailing you out then you will never learn.

I am single dad with custody of my 2 kids and we are broke but I refuse to ask my family or any one for money. I have a job and I work hard everyday. It has really taken a toll and is very stressful but my ex will not pay her child support and we are making ends meet. She took all the money out the bank before she left and ran up all the credit cards and I have had to get a lawyer and to help with all that stuff. I find ways to save money and the kids are fine with that.

No, that's not cool. I was in the same situation a few years ago where I got myself in a jam, and asked my parents to bail me out. They refused to and let me file for bankruptcy and hit rock bottom. I was so mad at them then, but now I understand and glad they did it!

Nope not cool even a little tiny bit!!

They need to deal with their own mess and clean it up themselves.

Perhaps by having to actually take responsibility for their own stuff they may learn something? I hope so!!

um no, i would help my family out..but in no way would I sturggle to help that person make up for his or her mistake...some people get to greedy in life and forget the most important part of saving nad making a secure lifestyle. I would expect my family to help me at all, I would just make it work on my own.

No that's really uncool. And hopefully your family would say no. Get a second job, pinch some pennies and you'll find your way out of the hole you dug, right!?

No and I hope the family won't bail them out. They will never learn to get it together and act like adults if someone bails them out all the time.

Leaving yourself without money is a stupid mistake and asking for money is really irresponsible. But if you have to beg for money, who's better to beg than your family?

Nope, and the family shouldn't give in. Spoiled kids don't learn until they face reality.

I have read stories of parents who are in their 70's working two jobs to pay for their kids spending habits.
