Probably because they come from a family where birthdays are a big thing. In our family they weren't. I assume that is why to me the are not.

Cuz for some of usit's the one day of the yr that we can feel important. It's "our" day. Celebrations are fun. Even if someone doesn't give you a gift it's nice to hear them wish you a happy b-day. It's not as big of a deal if someone else passed the msg on to you tho... :( My sis was born on my b-day & most peeps called her call & wished her a happy b-day & since I was w/ her most of the time I didn't even care that she said "____ said happy b-day." :( As if they couldn't ask her to put me on the phone & talk to me for a couple of min to wish me a happy b-day !!! All cuz I was w/ her all day on our b-day & SHE's the one w/ the cell :(

I know a couple people like this and I never really understood it, but I would guess that it is because their family probably made a bid whoop-de-doo about it when they were growing up.

I once called a girl in our corporate office to tell her Happy birthday, her response was "It's just another FU**ING" day!" I'd say she was a tad sensative....

there were only four birthdays I really cared about --
16th so I could drive -- 18th go into the service -- 21 so I could vote -- 62 so I could retire. why care about any of the others ?
