The proverb is "pride goeth before a fall" or "pride goes before a fall."
It means that a proud person is usually too obsessed with his own pride to pay attention to the world around him, and therefore doesn't realize that he's about to make a mistake and "fall".

Proverbs 16:18 Pride [goeth] before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall
"There is a way which seemeth right unto a man but the end thereof are the ways of death." Proverbs 14:12
Man exalts himself through his technology and becomes prideful through learning and knowledge.
Pride does not acknowledge God; those who are acting in pride refuse to inquire of and will not defer to the Lord.
Pride is man thinking he is wise in what he supposes he knows...

Pride is like a fine wine. Just a little bit can extend your life, make you calm and collected. But too much can reduce you to a vomiting infant, a braggot and a fool. It is right to be proud of great accomplishments. Without pride in your work you belittle everything you do. I believe deeds command respect, if you feed an orphan then say "It was nothing." You disrespect a truly noble deed, I don't think the orphan would agree. Credit must be given where due. But holding that over other people is an equally disrespectful abuse of a noble deed. Without pride and humility resting on a level in our lives everything we do is worth the carcass of a gnat.

"Pride goes before a fall" is a paraphrase of an ancient Hebrew Proverb, designed to warn that excessive pride will often cause one to fall or fail. Another variant on this quotation is Pride comes before the fall.

Usually it is Pride Goest before the Fall.
Pride is a deadly sin, so if one is guilty of the sin of pride, he/she will inevitably fall despite their conceit. Pride leads to selfishness, which leads to lonliness, depression, etc. If one is too proud, it prevents a looking beyond to allow love for others. This leads to a life that is empty...fallen.
