It's an automatic 93 honda civic. When the gears shift I can feel it jerk the body of the car back and it sort of gives me whip-lash. And sometimes when trying to get the car up to speed it acts like it just won't go. Like it stays at the low speed while I'm accelerating and then it finally jumps up to speed and the car jerks again. We've already changed the fuel filter, so that must not have been it. Is this a common issue with 93 honda civics? Could it be the transmission?

they are all incorrect.... all ninety two and up Civic EX sort are a million.6 single over head with Vtec. the only engine that say Vtec on real of the engine are non-obligatory. some have it, some do not. in the adventure that your is a ninety 3 civic Ex, it tell me that your is a Civic EX Couple or a EX Sedan. The engine huge form could be stamp on the block via the transmission. Its could have a stamp announcing D16Y2 or what each sequence the motor is. do not be confuse, some have D16 yet are actually not Vtec. like the LX version. some low end sort such through fact the CX, DX. are a D15 motor. some a million.5 do incorporate Vtec yet not as plenty capacity through fact the D16 vtec. the two Civic EX and SI sport a similar engine. EX being a pair or a Sedan. SI purely are available in Hatchback. There different sort such through fact the HX or the VX. the two sport the two a million.5 and a million.6 yet purely incorporate a Vtec-E for economic device this version isn't real Vtec. optimistically this help. and sturdy success on your EX..
