Wow, some of you think that I came up with this on my own! What, I can't ask a question based on what the media feeds or what people talk about on their lunch break?

It was a Republican president who freed the slaves. It was Southern Democrats who filibustered the Civil Rights Act. It was a Republican president who gave us the first AND SECOND black secretary of state (not to mention the first black woman secretary of state). The Republican party believes that blacks do not need hand-outs; they do not need out-dated quotas; they are perfectly capable of building up their own lives without the help of government. The Republican party believes in freedom, not freebies.
All Dems do is throw money and b.s. sympathy at blacks in this country. They don't need sympathy -- they need government to get out of their way so they can use the intelligence, courage, and good sense God gave them to "pursue happyness."
Of course, we can't forget that Bill Clinton - a Democrat - was the first black president.
Yipes.

Of course not. Both parties contain millions of people who don't fit either label. Republicans generally believe that focusing on a strong economy will help all people, and there is no need for special protections for minority groups. They may be mistaken, but they are for the most part sincere. Democrats on the other hand tend to believe that we have a duty to help those who can't help themselves, but tend to ignore the cost as well as evidence that such programs don't work very well. The tension between these two is why we have the mixed programs we have, and prevents going too far in either direction.

The problem with the statements is that they're not true. Not all conservatives and republicans are racists - although there are some who seem to color the discourse so that the unwary might believe that. Similarly, not all liberals and democrats are ignorant socialists, but those who don't bother to learn more may be fooled into thinking so.

not all republicans are racists but all racist just happen to be republican or conservative minded in their thinking, or lack thereof. also, it is not racist to assume republicans are racist consittering being a republican is not a race. however a large majority of republicans tend to be caucasian while a large percentage of democrats and independants tend to be african-american, hispanic-american or some other foreign contingent. the only hispanics who tend to be republican tend to be cubans who have the bad taste of castro socialism in the collective mouths.

Sweeping generalizations are just as bad as racism. Both stem from ignorance. This means you.
