This is my fourth child, so I am pretty used to pregnancy. However I have never felt this exhausted before. I have my partner at home full time so it's not because I'm running around afer the other three kids. I don't work. It doesn't seem to matter if I sleep well or not, from the moment I wake up in the morning I feel like a zombie! All I can think about is getting some more sleep. Some days i manage to have a nap in the afternoon and that helps for a bit but, after a couple of hours I'm back to feeling exhausted again. I'm only 6 weeks and I don't know how I'm going to cope if this continues. I don't suffer from morning sickness as such, although I do feel queesy most of the time, but I am eating regularly to try and keep my energy levels up. What else can I do? I read somewhere that if you are carrying twins you wil experience more severe symptoms, so I wondered if that could be why. I don't know if I am having twins or not but I thought it would be a possible explanation.

I don't have any twins in the family that I know of. I read that the more babies you have had, the older you are the more likely you are to have twins.

That is completely true. I am 3 months with twins, and luckily, I have had no morning sickness, but the exhaustion has been so extreme, I'd be willing to trade for a couple other symptoms. There are no twins in my family, either, so it was a complete shock to find out we have two in there! Extreme exhaustion is a sign of twins. In fact, it is the #1 complaint (according to the websites I have visited, anyway) of twin pregnancies.

Funny what a little time can do huh? You have 3 kids, you're a little older than when you had the first three, you're in your first trimester, each pregnancy is different, etc. See where I'm going with this one? I only had my twins 19 months ago, but I feel about 10 years older with this pregnancy. Thankfully, it slacked off some for my second trimester, but ah, the fatigue is back in full force for the last home stretch.
Experiencing more severe symptoms is not a 100% gauranteed predictor of twins, nor is it present in every twin pregnancy. I had little to no pregnancy symptoms with my twins and very strong symptoms with this singleton. Best of luck.

With my first and only child/pregnancy....I was completely exhausted. There are no words to describe how tired and zombie-like I was. All I could ever ever ever think about was napping or sleeping in. I always thought pregnancy was filled with glowing vibrance but IT WASN'T. I was a zombie.
I was the same way. And the funny thing is, well it's actually not that funny but after you have the baby...as you might know...you will be even more OBSESSED with sleep because a new baby wakes up all of the time....even my 12 month old was up twice a night....for a whole year!!!!!!!
Good luck. I feel your pain.
P.S. They checked my iron, thyroid, everything. Everything was normal. The pregnancy just made me EXHAUSTED.

Yes, it's normal. I felt exhausted all throughout my pregnancy and I worked full-time up until the last 3 weeks. Some women just get hit harder with the pregnancy symptoms. It should get better around the second trimester then increase again towards the very end of the pregnancy. Look on the bright side, at least you don't have to work and you have your partner at home to help you with the kids.

I was completly exhausted to begin my pregnancy! I would get home at 5:00 from work and pass-out on the couch. I would wake-up long enough to eat and go back to sleep for the rest of the night! It's very common!
There's not really anything that you can do but wait it out. The second trimester I felt WONDERFUL! I was awake, I had energy I didn't just look "fat!"
Within the last few weeks I've fallen into the same pattern with my body gearing me up for labor.
It's just your body trying to create enough blood to form the placenta in the beginning. You'll get through it. Good luck!

I would say this is totally normal, especially since your body has gone through mutiple pregnancies. It takes a lot out of you.
All I can suggest is to stay hydrated and rest whenever you can. This crushing fatigue should ease up in the coming weeks so I doubt you will be like this all 9 months.
Yes, it's always possible you could be carrying twins! In a couple of weeks (9-10 weeks gestation) they can listen for a heartbeat....or two!
Congratulations, by the way!

I am in my 3rd pregnancy and the 1st 10 weeks I was exhausted. It was not like this with the 1st 2. I am now 13 weeks and feel the fog lifting. They say the 2nd trimester is easier and when you get your energy back. I took a nap in the afternoon (didn't have a choice most days, I couldn't keep my eyes open) and tried to rest as much as possible.
It should get better.

Yes its normal. Are you caring twins? I dont know the answer to that question but its possable. You'll just have to wait till your first ultrasound or the first time you get to hear the heart beat(s). Well, good luck and this might sound like alot but sleep when your tired.
