Absolutely not....apparently the person whom you gave this expensive gift to at the time was not your enemy. This would be considered as indian giving, you are not entitled to take it back. If you called the cops or tried bringing this to court it would do nothing.....they would tell you that you shouldnt have bought such an expensive gift for someone you did know would be around forever!...well good luck! the most you can do is attempt to get it back willingly from the person

You can sue until your face turns blue, but they will not give it back to you. Once you give a gift to a person, it becomes their property. It was this guy who bought a girl a necklace on credit and she dumped him. The jewelry store pressed charges against him for the property because by law they couldn't get the necklace from her. He sued her and ended up not only paying for the necklace, but for her lawyer and for the court. The only thing you can do is get her for harassment. Sorry.

you can not sue the person because it was a gift. calling the cops is not a good idea either because you would have to say that the person stole it and that is not true. your best bet is just to forget about it and move on

I don't think you can do that, not unless you could prove it was not a gift. but isn't that the reason they are called gifts so you give them to someone out of the kindness of your heart and no matter what happened you cared enough for that person at the time to give it to them, now it is theres.

No you cannot sue. You have no case. You gave them the gift willingly, on your own. The gift is now their legal property.
Get over it. Go buy yourself a new gift.

No you can't. When you give a gift you can not legally take it back. If you were engaged whomever broke it off the other person gets. So if you were in a relationship and you broke up with the person they get to keep it. If they broke up with you then you can keep it. Cut your losses and move on.

You should have thought about it before you spent your money on the present. You can't sue someone over a gift.

Absolutely NOT. A gift is something you give to someone. It is not a cash deposit that you can just take back when things go bad. At most, you can ask for it back, if he/she doesn't want to, I'm sorry, there's really nothing you can do about it.

GIFT?!!!!! Please. A gift is just that - a gift. that person can tear it up, burn it, toss if off a bridge. Why are you stressing your self and mucking up your aura with an enemy? Let it and them go! The cops are not interested in helping you retrieve a gift. what was it a car?
