When having a abortion do the doctors go by your lmp or by gestation?

They do an ultrasound, because depending on the baby's size, they'll use a different method. It has more to do with size than with age.

normally pregnancy gestation is based from your LMP - this is how far along you are and will be taken into consideration when having a baby / abortion

Pregnancy is most accurately measured by LMP, so I'd assume that's what they'd go by.

If they suspect you are far along they make go by both! Otherwise probably lmp!

usually it's by LMP if it has to do with pregnancy

i would guess they would probably do an ultrasound to see how far along you are, i have never had an abortion so i dont know for sure, but if this is something you really want to do than make sure you save this question for your doctor.
good luck...

They go by your last menstrual period.

By the way, a real "doctor" does not do abortions. Doctors are supposed to protect and save lives, not destroy them. Doctors are supposed to help women, not scar them physically and emotionally for life.
