She's doing cold reading. There are real psychics who occasionally are on the money, and it's possible that she has some ability, but when you're turning out books, charging a lot of money for people to come see you, and they put a lot of hope into what you say, you do wonder how she can sleep at night.

She's an entertainer. Same with John Edwards. I do think they may have had some ability at some point in their life, but doubtful. Allison Dubois, who cashed in with the TV show "Medium" and a couple of books (of course there's some pure fiction) , doesn't seem to be exploiting her skills as much as she could, and may be the real deal because she isn't in the limelight as much. There's also a woman in the Houston area that's been way more accurate than Sylvia and not as famous.

There are real psychics out there, and most of them are very low profile and under the radar. They will almost all say that it's never consistant and that everyone has a little bit of psychic ability.

James Randi still has a million dollar check that has yet to be cashed.

What I think of both Sylvia and Montel is that it is a shame that they prey on the grief-stricken the way that they do. If I am flipping through the channel, and happen upon the show, I'll watch it sometimes. The PAIN of those people are so real and for them to be exploited like that makes it more painful. It's so reckless and dangerous of both she and Montel.

She pretty much tells everyone who has a missing loved one that they are dead. I guess she think it's better to just snuff out their hope than to have them "keeping hope alive." If it was more of a fluff show, about people finding the man of their dreams... When they will have kids... if they will be successful in their careers, or even if their house is haunted... I wouldn't have as much of a problem with it. But the murder/kidnapping cases, they need to leave alone. There are times that I am so sure that they send people on wild goose chases and it's just wrong.

She's a fraud through and through. Do you know she charges 500-1000 dollars for her day spa and for "solving" homicides? She's also released like 25 books. That's the whole reason she's on the show, to promote those books and prey on the grieving.

The only reason she hasn't been sued like Miss Cleo was, is because her insane followers have actually created a church and called it a religion. She's found the governmental loophole that other fake mediums haven't.

Check out these articles for some of her exploits.

I think she's a real and genuine psychic. Nothing she's done so far proves otherwise so i think she really does believe what she says and they may be true or they may not. I've not personally met her or witness her make a false prediction so i think she's okay. But i don't personally like the montel show.

I pretty sure she is a fraud, how can anyone answer questions so quickly like that, and one time this woman thought her son was her deceased dad reincarnated because her son was born within minutes of her dads passing and Sylvia said it couldnt' be because her dad was still in-processing at the time, good god, I don't really believe in reincarnation anyway and in-processing into heaven, come on!
