because, unfortunately, there are holes in her education. She was taught "good tennis" strokes but not good manners.
But what is most objectionable is that when people protest about her rudeness or arrogance or her being a sore loser then somehow that is always attributed to racism. That is just too easy and if she and her freinds and family always take that attitude then she will never learn from her mistakes.

For so long, i've been defending these girls on accusations like these.
Yes, I do agree to a very small extent that she should've atleast bring up the good job Justine did. But let's face it, we've seen how good she can play (especially recently), so what are we arguing? She obviously didn't play well, so why are we trying to put words into her mouth. She said she didnt play well, and Justine pushed her around the court. Is that a surprise? We saw it with our own eyes. We know it as much as she knows it, so why get mad because she brings it up.
If we were to see a match where they were both playing outstanding and Justine were to still win, then I KNOW that Serena would have said "You win some you lose some. She was just the better player today", or something along those lines. But to see FIRSTHAND that she obviously wasn't playing well, and then hear her talk about it, and then have the balls to bring up how she has a LACK OF RESPECT? Come on people, let's not embarrass ourselves with comments like that.
Please, use you're brain before you say things like this. And let's remember....PLEASE... she's not even close to being the only one who does this.... so let's stop acting like she is.
HAHA, slamming her raquet down? Oooo you're right... that is rude... because you know, no one else does it.

This is actually old news. The sisters have been this way since they appeared.
There's more to playing a sport and being an athlete. You have to show decency, humility, sportsmanship, grace and class. To be in something like tennis or any other sport means that you are an ambassador not only for yourself but for the sport.
Some examples of the classiest well-known players in tennis:
Roger Federer
Pete Sampras
Pat Rafter
Todd Martin
Steffi Graf
Justine Henin
Kim Clijsters
Gabriela Sabatini
Lindsay Davenport
Chanda Rubin
Sam Stosur

She was angry at herself, that's all. And the person who listed Justine Henin and Lindsay Davenport as among the classiest tennis players ever?? Hello??? Henin is the queen of pretence and didn't Davenport and Hingis make comments that sort of "outed" Amelie Mauresmo during the Australian Open in 1999?? No wonder she could never win the French Open.

She does have class. The nerves of you to single her out when in fact, some do not have class. And someone had the nerves to put Henin down as one player who has class. LOL.. Do we not remember what Henin did to Serena? And didn't Sharapova do something while playing against Shaffer (sp)? Serena as well as Venus always give handshakes regardless if they lose or win and congrat their opponets. If they feel they did not play their games, thats their choice. Perhaps they didn't. After all, they were once the # 1 and #2 players.
Serena has had bad calls and she never once got out of line. She took the calls and played the game. You just want her to degrade herself because she's a black woman.
I shake my head when I see people always finding negative things to say about black players. But give passes to non black players.

Lots of players lose their temper on the court and start acting out, especially in the men's game. I'm not condoning it, but I don't think it's fair to single out Serena.
Now, if she started swearing at the line judges, or refused to shake hands with her opponent after a match, then she would be displaying an unacceptable lack of sportsmanship. But let's keep things in perspective. She's no John McEnroe.

A loser? Not hardly.
Much of it depends on where she is directing her anger. If she is blaming the judges for keeping her down, then I would agree that she is a sore loser. But, if she is blaming herself because she is capable of playing better, then she is blaming herself which is entirely different.

Eric, I think your comment is a little harsh..she is trying her hardest, and she wasn't brought up in a private girls school. When she is on the court, you would think that her emotions are at an all time high, and her composure can easily be lost when frustration sets in. I know it's not great to watch sometimes, but it is more difficult out there than you think.
