A gopher and a lady packin' a coupla .45's, would make for ideal traveling companions. Amazing conversations, the ability to fend off unwanted advances, and great taste in music.

CB RADIO and if you're on the I-5 corridor, tune it to channel 17. If you are east of I-5 put it on channel 19. Truckers will chat with you along the way, tell you where the bears/mounties/barny fife's are.
other than that, an xm satellite radio, a couple thermos' for coffee, junk food and a good woman who's mute.

This is a very interesting question... when I listen to the radio in the car... and I travel, then when I go to listen at home the same song, it remembers me the direct moving of the car and the road... So... I think that the perfect music is the Enya's, but not every Enya's song is good for a road trp... the song "On my way home..." (eheh) is ok...
