Don't play Runescape.. i tried it, it's a complete disaster. No idea why people play it.. (bad graphics, insanely complicated user interface, etc)
Rubies has actual 3-d graphics.. granted it's not for the timid (has a kind of steep learning curve to get used to the controls) but read the manual first and you'll be fine... that or pay attention to the tutorials available in the starting area.
It's got like 140 character classes, 6 races, etc.
It's just an all-around fun game for whatever you set out to accomplish for whatever time-frame you want to play (no 8 hour raids or 4 hour dungeons where you can't leave, that type of thing).
ANd if you like soloing there are just as many opportunities to do that as there are parties (no penalty for being in a party so it's just as much fun only faster).

Actually, I've found a lot of games just like an rpg game like Runescape. Lets see. There are games like Tetrawarrior, Flyforfun, and all sorts of others i can't seem to remember. If you don't like any of those, you could search or try out other kinds of games. That's all i can help you with. I hope I helped!

I used to play runescape for a good while until I got bored, but then I found ***PUZZLE PIRATES*** Runescape and Puzzle Pirates are a bit different, but they are both RPG games, and if you liked runescape, you will probably like puzzle pirates too! You complete all sorts of puzzles, card games, and such to earn money! You can enter in tournaments, sail the seas, join a crew, buy a boat, or fight skellies (skeleton monsters)! Its pretty darn fun!

There is no good Runescape-like game. Now that I spelled it out, I must be off to sprinkle myself with holy water before I become one of them Runescape zombies.

unfortunately, runescape is a unique game and there isnt a game like that elsewhere. Maplestory is totally different and not as good as runescape, so I suggest that you play runescape

guild wars. no monthly pay, but 50 for installation. Plays just like runescape, but better graphics. JUST like runescape.
