You're dealing with flash memory here which isn't quite the same as dealing with a regular HDD.
I'm of the mind that the files might actually be gone but there's always a chance that they're just hiding. As I said, I'm not sure of this and I'd honestly be surprised if it worked.
There are applications you can download to recover files that have been deleted. Do a google search on "File Recovery" and see if anything comes up. Then check the application to see if they can recover anything off a flash drive. Who knows? You might get lucky.

i think u can use some recovery tool(like the one u get with system mechanic) to recover the files from USB if the USB is not used again or filled with some other data after erasing the original files...but the recovery cannot be guarenteed for sure ..depends on the size and type of data

Once they're gone, they're gone for good. If you formatted your USB jump-drive, then they're gone for good. If you have a nasty virus in your system, however, your files might have the ability to be recovered using some good file recovery software. Good Luck!

You might try data recovery or run undelete and check if there is an option for USB drives. It is very expensive but they might be able to recover them. Give them a call.

as far as my knowledge in technology, i believe you can nver retrieve it back, unless the recycle bin of the computer u used to erase ur files has those still. click the restore option and u'll have ur files back.
