Why?

PC gaming, to me, is much more interesting. Granted, I have an interest in downloading mods and reverse-engineering game code so I can modify and change the game if, for no other reason, than just to cheat or find a way to make something work differently.

But the days of the versatility of the PC being more than the console are coming to a close soon. The PS3 has just helped bridge that gap with all the internet-capabilities it has.. to include the easy of connecting to the internet for starters.

I think the gap will continue to close.. but for the time being, I'm hard core computer gaming.. I like my keyboard, my ability to multitask, etc. (don't just use it for a gaming platform).

But in the future? Who knows!

PCs for flight sims, RTS, some FPS and when you want to get the absolute best graphics in video games.

Consoles for everything else.

With consoles, you spend more time gaming and less time tweaking and patching and there is less online cheating. If you are a real gamer, you have to have both anyway as not all games are cross platform.

The argument about having to replace your console games is slightly redundant. Both the Wii, 360 and PS3 are backwards compatable as was the PS2. Try getting a DOS game like X-Wing to work in Vista. Not impossible but a lot harder than just popping the disc in the drive.

Consoles have very limited game libraries, must be completely replaced every 3-4 years, games are more expensive, do not allow for user troubleshooting, have lower resolutions, clunky controls, and are less powerful than PCs.

However, they are easier to carry around, easier to link up for multiplayer, and are good for parties.

PCs have expansive game libraries (including almost every game released for every console plus a huge amount of exclusive titles), can be upgraded as needed without replacing the entire system, games usually cost less, users can fix most bugs and glitches on their own (depending on how savvy the user is), can have extremely high resolutions, keyboard and mouse allow for accurate and more customizable controls, and they are way more powerful than consoles.

PCs also have the ability to do more than just gaming (good for those who are older than 7), they are "backwards compatible" to almost the dawn of gaming (using emulation), and most games allow the creation of user mods which can only be accessed by PCs.
