A friend of mine husband and me recently made a killing (way over 7 figures) on a land deal and he took us to the Turtle Creek Mansion in Dallas. Dinner was well over 1000.00 (including a 500.00 bottle of Dom Perigon champagne). It was a once in a lifetime experience - but I can't see paying that much for a meal.

I had a quazi business dinner with a rep with a person I was dating at the time. We at a prestigious seafood restaurant in our area entitled 'Oceanaire Seafood Room". At the table, there were 5 of us. Between all of us, we had about 5 Martini's, a bottle of moderately priced wine, a few appetizers and an entree each. Well, we found out pretty quickly that the entree's only came with the protien and if a salad, vegetables and starch were desired, they needed to be ordered "Family Style" and a la carte. I dined on 1 Alaskan Crab leg, thankfully with the claw. Everyone else had a 6-8oz piece of fish of their choice. We opted out of dessert but had an appertif. I chose a moderately priced Cognac whilst everyone else chose a glass of dessert wine or a cappucino. The bill, much to our dismay, turned out to be around $800.00 for the 5 of us. Luckily for us, the Rep that was trying to get our business paid the entire bill.
I am no stranger to dining out at fine dining restaurants but for the amount of food that we received, and the size of the drinks we were served in my opinion didn't warrant an $800.00 bill. Subsequently, I have never been back since.

Most expensive or most rip-offy? Er. Most expensive would be when i went to this restaurant for dinner. Cant remember the individual pricing but the bill ended up like what? RM 800 for a really bad meal which is like, 250 dollars for three. and it was a really really really bad meal. The seafood dish was all burnt. But when we told the manager he gave us free apple pie, so that was okay :P

An amazing meal in Montreal. I had a business dinner planned one night with a potential customer whose top executives were friends of one of MY company's founders. I invited our founder (who is a foodie) to select the dinner place.

We had this amazing Nouvelle Cuisine meal with the whole wines paired with food bit, served by the chef, at his special table next to the kitchen. The dishes were beautiful - like works of art on the plate - but teeny tiny - it was like a spa meal. When the bill came, I almost fell off my chair - our dinner had cost us $500 per person!!!

When the dinner ended, my chief technologist and I separated from the customers and founder to walk back to our hotel - on the way there, I turned to him and said: "I'm hungry. Let's go get a burger!" ... and so we did.

The last word (and irony) on this is that the customer never even bought anything :( But it was a memorable night.......

it was in Tokyo, about 15 years ago. 8 people, $1,700 before tip. we'd been eating and drinking for over 2 hrs.. great food, grilled everything.

my friends were taking me out for birthday dinner, and that was where I'd gone before, though with only one other person and he paid. so I had no idea how expensive it could be. when the bill came, the wife of my boss started arguing with the waiters, which was pretty funny since she spoke no japanese, and the waiter spoke only a little english.
it all worked out, and we still talk about how good that meal was!

My wife and I went to "The White Barn Inn" in Kenneybunkport, Maine for Valentine's Day last year. This is where the Bush's (Both Senior & Junior) dine when they are in Maine. I forget what we had, but we had appetizers, drinks, entree and dessert and the bill was $320, including a $60 tip...BUT, it was well worth it. Remember "Treat yourself nice, because no one else will."

Ate at Charles of Nob Hill in San Francisco. $250 for my wife and I and we ended up buying fast food later in the evening. I am not fine dining type guy I discovered. I guess my palate is too big and unsophisticated

Well, I didn't payfor it, but I had breakfast at Mark Anthony's in Atlantic City. I think it was $45-50 per person.
