How the HELL can MP's have voted to have Parliament exempt from the Smoking ban?

They push this on the rest of us and give us no chose in the matter, but its fine for them to have an exemption. The bloody hypocrites. They should lead by example not "do as I say, not as I do"

MP's should be banned from Smoking just like the rest of us.

This is the same place that voted in the freedom of information act, and then exempted themselves from it also. So you can demand any information from a public body, except parliament. Nice

Power corrupts,

and politicians seem to have forgotten that their job is to represnt the people that elect them, ahh well too bad hypocracy is the new currency of the nation

and the Freedom of Information act is even more ironic, it was originally designed to make Government and its files accountable and accessible then they try to exempt the very people it was aimed at (themselves)

though that was pretty much when they realised that it was a good idea only so long as they had nothing to hide or be embarrased about,

They can vote to give themselves pay rises as well, even when they are telling nurses and teachers theres no money to give them raises
To be brutally honest exempting themselves from the smoking ban is small potatoes to everything else theyve done

Isnt politics fun

Kuh - they exempted themselves from the Freedom of Information Act so we couldn't ask how much of their time and our money they spend on fags and beer. And you have to ask why they voted to allow smoking in their tax subsidised boozer?

What on earth is the use of becoming an MP if you can't have privileges over and above the general public and the civil servants that work for you?

One rule for the working class, one rule for the ruling class, do your history, it's never changed, just done up in a more expensive bit of spin that you now pay for with taxes.
I'm far from a whingeing left wing lentil eater, but I can see the inequality even from the back of my dark little hole, I call my castle.
As for lead by example, well, as far as they are concerned they are leading, what more could you want?

It's simple, when you are in charge you do what you want and everyone else does what you tell them!
At one time there was some honour, decency and fair play in parliament and governments, but that has now all gone, along with our rights, freedoms and democracy.

I was taught "teach/lead by example". Obviously our beloved leaders have not heard that one.
