Just a matter of taking everything other than x to the other side. In this case, the -3. Because -3 is multiplied by x, you have to divide the other side by -3 to get rid of it. Ie. x = 27 / -3. Ie x = -9. QED

You have to get the x by itself. To do that you always do the opposite operation to the side with x. BUT whatever you do to one side, you MUST do to the other.

So...-3x is multiplication, you need to divide both sides by -3 to get x alone and then you will have your answer.

-3x=27
-3/27= -9
x=-9

if you are trying to solve for x...and im guessing that 8 isnt part of the equation? it looks like the number of the problem

divide both sides by -3, and you will get x..it will equal 9
