5x +8 +3x - x +5 =6x -3
Group all the like terms:
(5x + 3x - x) + (8 + 5) = 6x - 3
7x + 13 = 6x - 3
Now, to get all the x on one side, subtract the 6x from both sides:
7x + 13 - 6x = 6x - 6x - 3
(7x - 6x) + 13 = (8x - 6x) - 3
x + 13 = 0 - 3
x + 13 = -3
Now, to get x alone, subtract the 13 from both sides:
x + 13 - 13 = -3 - 13
x + 0 = -16
x = -16
