we have liberals wanting vermont to secede from the nation, i think they should do it. its not an important state, and since theyre leftists, theyre just getting federal money from other states. it would save the other states money.
but could this also happen to the southwest US? more and more liberal voters are there, more hispanics are joining the military across the country trying act "patriotic", and La Raza is talking more about it and has increased membership. with a hispanic military, none of the soldiers would fight to prevent the secession. california doesnt even need the US. so i dont see anything that would prevent secession of the southwest if this amnesty bill is passed. anyone see anything that could prevent secession? i think we need another war with mexico, even perhaps a civil war. maybe we could BUY more of their land like we did last time...

OK For the last time this is not a very large movement in VT. It is really just a bunch of crackpots who have no clue what they are talking about. Also there are secessionist movements in many other states like Texas and south Carolina. It is rather sad that you people keep playing this as if it were to happen it was just another stupid human interest story that you cons love to suck on.

Those people in Vermont that want to secede from the Union need to consider a few things. There is the matter of monitary notes. If you have your own country you have to have your own money. There are countries that use the US dollar as currency. but this is with the permission of the US.
Then there is travel to foreign countries. If they secede the US becomes a foreign country. Canadians are pretty free to travel to the US but it's not totally unrestricted. Seceding just might make the US more than a little irritated and you might need a vias to enter the US.
What about getting food, gas, oil, and everything else they use in Vermont? It's not a sure bet Vermont could maintain their present way of life without the Federal income. No Federal aid for schools and roads. Who knows they just might be forced to forfit their entitlement to Social Security.
There are a lot of things to be considered before you decide to secede from the Union. It doesn't matter if you are in the North East or South West. If California were to secede the Democrats would lose their hold on Congress and might never elect another Democrat President.
There are a lot of things to consider.

First of all, Vermont is a wealthy state. A lot of retirees plus the ski industry. So don't think that they absolutely get more then they put in with the taxes.
Secondly, a war with Mexico would be a civil war. They have already invaded.
And thirdly, you say you think we need a war,(that would be on American soil), do you have any idea of what that would be like? Take a look around you, all you now know would be gone. War is hell on Earth, don't wish it on yourself, or your love ones.
If you survive, your world would never be the same.

I have said for a long time that multicultural is going to break a mighty nation apart. The signs have been there a long time and no one seems to care.
Unity is what made the great nation and unity is the only thing that will keep it together.
people just don't want to face the truth about anything these days.

I say let them and charge them triple for all things that they have to import from the rest of us.
It's a state that is now a place for the elite Dems and these people have gone crazy. Check out some of their laws and they couldn't be laxer or lean further to the left. It's a state filled with loonies that has gone array.
I feel sorry for those who originally formed their roots and are stuck with the nuts that have taken them over.

We already fought one war about that. The socialists in Vermont are just grabbing some headlines. There are enough normal people up there to keep things straight.

It has been tried before, with very bad results for the secessionists.
there may be lots of talk, but when push comes to shove, the central government doles out WAY too much money for any of the states to be able to make it on their own without the rest of us.

Who needs all those hippies from Vermont. Lets let them secede and then build a wall around the state. Then we cut off all diplomatic and economic ties.
Let them sit around all day and smoke weed while they sing the praises of Castro and Chavez........

Can you Imagine for just one moment the number of people you would need to battle just the Mexicans that were already living here .

THEY SHOULD TRY. THEY SHOULD RAISE AN ARMY OF LIBERAL MILITIA TO FIGHT. THAT WAY THE GOVERNMENT COULD CRUSH THEM AND THEIR WOULD BE THAT MANY LESS LIBERALS IN THE COUNTRY.
