High school is just a little bigger than middle school and there is more drama. You should be yourself and don't worry about what others think. You also should never believe rumors because there will be tons in high school.

I just dropped my daughter off for her first day at High School (she's in a transition program for the summer for entering 9th graders) and I was scared. Big difference from Middle School! But, I think it takes confidence. Have you ever heard the saying "never let them see you sweat?" I think that is key. Don't let on to others that you are scared, believe in your abilities, to make new friends and succeed at your coursework. After all, that is really what it is about. Your grades are what are ultimately of importance, and if you don't have confidence in that aspect maybe some tutoring can help. Talking to a counselor about afterschool activities can be helpful too. Good luck!

First of all, congratulations on finishing middle school! As for high school, you will find that your peers act more mature because they are older and closer to college. There will be a lot less teasing, bullying, and exclusion. That's mostly middle school behavior, and the only people who continue to do it in high school are the biggest losers who don't have any friends and are just looking for attention. In general, high school students are more respectful of their peers.
Also, the classes and work will be somewhat harder that in middle school, but it shouldn't be a big deal now because you are older and smarter and you can handle more work.
As for after school activities and other things that happen in high school that don't in middle school, it really depends on your school district. Each school has different programs. Talk to someone who goes to your high school to find out more specific details. Or you could always look up your high school on the internet. Most high schools have web pages where they describe their academics and after school activities and other important information.

Relax,it is about the same as going from grade school to middle school. You'll have some of your old friends there and make new friends too.
After school activities are about the same,a little more homework, more choices of elective classes to take, more social opportunities plus several school dances every year.
Your just stepping into a larger part of the world around you.

Hey..there is a change between middle school and high school. For examples you have more classes in high school than you do in middle school. you should not be scare. I want to give you a advice...what ever you do always try to make the best choice's. Don't feel pressure by your friends..They are not always right. If they tell you to do something, if you don't feel comfortable doing then don't do it. Always talk to your parents because they are the best teachers that you will ever have. Always do what they tell you because it is for your own good. Good Luck and Always make the right choice.

You have the same locker all 4 years.
The school is alot bigger.
You may not see your friends very much, and then you have more to talk about when you do see them.
Different friends, sometimes your friends split up.
More sports, and the upper classmen won't hurt you if you don't annoy them.
you could possibly have upperclassmen in some of your classes, its a good idea to talk to them and be nice, but don't annoy them b/c then they will tell all their friends your annoying and that isn't good.

in highschool its a bigger school so the teachers arent gonna babysit you means they'll let you slack and youll notice when you fail the class, not like in middle the teacher calling your parents and giving you extra credit, also in highschool you dont have to put with the immaturity of 6 graders, the hardest year is freshmen year, after that everything is easy, and about the after school things they mostly do everything after school, sport practices,toturings,makeups,tryouts..dont worry about high school you ll enjoy when your there

For me it was the same as middle school. Freshman year is the same, don't worry it is soph, junior, and senior years where things really change. People get licences or throw more parties. Don't worry take it one step at a time.
