I just purchased a 2007 Harley Sportster 1200c I will be picking it up in the next couple of days. I was wondering what to I need to check on the bike before taking delivery of the new bike?

Almost nothing. It's brand new. And nobody at the dealership will be grinding off numbers. The best thing to do is ask what they have done. This thing should be ready to roll with at least 1/2 tank of gas when you pick it up. The last thing they do is give it a quick cleaning.

As always, do your usual pre-ride check. Lights, horn, etc.

Each time I purchase a bike I pull out the manual and have one of the technicians go thru the checklist with me. This way I have any questions answered and learn about any new or features not listed in the manual that are useful. I actually had a technician find a problem with the fluid levels once. The dealership is always more than willing to help.
Enjoy the bike and remember to keep your head up and wheels down!

Make sure that the serial number on the title matches what is stamped into the frame. Check for scratch marks around the numbers (where it looks like it may have been ground down).

As far as cosmetics that you need to check out, if it has crash bars on it check for scuffs on the chrome and check the oil tank for scuffs. If it has ever been dropped you could check the fenders and exhaust for scuffs as well. Make sure the horn works, check the turn signals, check to see if the starter works, start up the bike and make sure there isn't any valve chatter, go for a ride before you officially take it. If you feel any excessive vibration in the handlebars or if they shake like mad when you let go of them then you may need steering head bearings. Check the oil and top it off if necessary. Check the spark plugs to make sure they aren't fuel fouled and make sure they are at the proper gap. It might sound trivial, but check the gas levels before you take it. Make sure the gas valve works and that your reserve works. On a bike that new you are unlikely to have too many problems, but you don't want to get home and have major issues later.

One thing is just make sure they just did the recall on the bike. There was just a recall put out about a month ago on new 2007 Harley's, my husbands bike was effected by the recall. It is something with the oil dripping on the battery and causing a fire. It is a simple thing for them to do but make sure it has been done. Also, make sure the tire pressure is good, low air in a tire on a bike will cause an accident. And lastly just make sure you have all of your paperwork. Good luck and CONGRAT!!!

On a brand new warranted bike all you really need to look for is damage. Scratches, nicks, dings ,etc.
Check all the oil levels.
It's too new to look for oil leaks or do a compression test as you would on a used bike.
If it has spoke wheels ,you may ask that they put it on a stand so you can see the wheels are true, but Harleys quality controll is pretty tight.

make sure all the bearing on the wheels are greased up tight with no movement from side to side, check oil levels, and the chain for tension and greased up sufficiantly.
inspect all the cosmetics for any faults, then document all the things you can find (if any) ant get in touch with the supplier asap. not that there should be any thing wrong, after all...it's a Harley!!

lots of stuff to check. You might want to review the MSF checklist for motorcycle maintainance.
Check tires, cables, freem play on brakes, look for leaks, make sure all the lihts work, look at the bike from the rear and see if it appears straight. wee if there are any dents dings or scratches, Check tire pressure, make sure you get owners manual and spare key.
Get a signed warranty sheet.

Fit and finish, the cosmetics. Road test it to ensure it's in perfect working order. If there is something wrong, document it on the receipt, it is your legal recourse. Check the oil level etc. Enjoy your ride. Chow
