I think the Palestinians as a whole need to acknowledge the fact that working with Israel will benefit them a lot more than continuing to fight.

The conflict is a tragic one. People always forget, though, that the land was equally divided back in 1948, between the palestinians and the jews. It was the leaders of the surrounding Arab nations who insisted the Palestinians leave, so that they could all then invade Israel - which they then did. Israel is tiny, she's smaller than Wales. The Arab nations were sure they would defeat her, especially since the jewish people had just been decimated by the Holocaust.

The Arab nations are vast and wealthy and yet they have never offered any land at all to the Palestinians, not once. Israel has given back land that she got while defending herself during successive wars started by her Arab neighbours. But the Islamic terrorist groups derail peace every time Israel tries, by sending yet more suicide bombers and yet more rockets.

If you ever go to Israel, you'll see that in major towns such as Tel Aviv, the restaurants always have to have guards outside to watch for terrorists; the buses also must have security people on board.

Israelis want peace; I'm sure many Palestinians do also. But as long as the Palestinians continue to support terrorist organisations, it's an impossible predicament.

I believe both should be able to prosper peacefully side-by-side. Unfortunately, this can not happen with the current mindsets and political overtones prevalent in the region. Israel has since its conception, made overtures and outright offers to Palestinians to live in Israel in peace, sharing the country. Many Palestinians want to do that but are pressured by Arab groups such as Hamas to refuse any offers. If the surrounding Arab nations would donate money and expertise to the peaceful Palestinians to set up a government and initiate programs to establish a modern infrastructure, then we wouldn't be talking about a conflict, but rather a cooperation. Why can't they realize that? Why must religious fanatics and fundamentalists consistently stand in the way of a peaceful solution? I admire Israel and her people for putting up with all the terrorism, hatred, and military aggression it has had to endure for the past 60 years. It's a shame that the conflict can't be settled amicably.

Let the ones who claim to "love" Palestinians such as Iran, Syria, Saudi Arabia take them. They are trespassing as it is. Regardless of if you have a faith or not, history tells us that Jerusalem hads been the capital of the Israel for at least 2500 years. History also tells us that the so called "Palestine" was a blasphemes name giving by the Romans to add further insult to the Jews when they tried to destroy them AS you can see, the roman empire is no longer with us, but the nation of Israel is still going strong.

The Arabs have 99% of the land in the region, but still want Israel. The Israelis have turned a barren wasteland into a prosperous and thriving land. It makes the Arabs cringe, because they are still stuck in the 8th century.

The Israelis keep compromising and the Palestinians keep encroaching all border lines.

Israel would love to have a fence and let everyone keep what is theirs. The Palestianians idea of compromise is to kidnap people and offer to give them back for money.

The British promised the land to the Arabs and the Jews. Of course, it was not really there's to give.

This is the most likely place for World War to breakout. It is also where nuclear war is most likeky to start. It is a very scary situation.

I give the Bush administration a lot of credit for being the only honest peace broker.

I support Palestine. The real Israel was destroyed by the Romans 2000 years ago so the Jews have no claim to the land anymore.

They treat the Palestinians in almost the same way the Jews were treated during world war 2.

the left is anti-Israel..endeared to any effort by the UN..

Israel was created by the UN...so why is there even a battle of opinion over the existence of Israel?

The Left of this Country is a bigger threat to Israel than Palestine..they have fueled the discontent..through their discord..with the situation

the press demagogues and routinely subverts the
truth over there..Israel was a source of valid income via jobs for many Palestinians..but the left is content and happy when a country is completely dependent upon their mindset..

There's hardly a conflict in which more orwellian language is used mostly by Zionist supporters of Israel to describe it.

The biggest twisting of truth comes from Israeli spokespeople who defend Israel's confiscation of Palestinian property, killing of civilians, torture, imprisonment without trial, and assassination in the name "security." Just ask yourself, how many incursions have Palestinian militants made into Israel in the last 40 years, compared to how many incursions has the Israeli army made outside Israel's recognized borders? OK, if that's too tough, give, tell me how many seconds there were in the last 40 years in which there were NO Israeli soldiers in the occupied West Bank? How many Israeli homes have been demolished by Palestinians in the last 40 years compared to how many Palestinian homes have been demolished by the Israeli armed forces? How much Israeli land has been confiscated by Palestinians for Palestinian-only settlements? The answer is, 0 Israeli homes, no land, over 18,000 Palestinian homes destroyed by Israel, the majority for not because the people living in them had committed any violence against Israelis but because Israel wanted to clear some area for "security," for example around Jewish-only settlements, which keep expanding. And a couple of months or years later they called it abandoned and start building houses for settlers on it. Israel restricted of access by Palestinians to close to 40% occupied territories (meaning most Palestinians can't travel there), and prevents free movement about the rest.

In another orwellian twist, the demand by Palestinian refugees their right of return is termed by Zionists as a wish to destroy Israel. The Palestinian refugees are those people and their descendents who were "fled or were expelled" from what is now considered Israel in 1947-1949. While grants any Jew in the world the right to become a citizen, ever since Israel has denied Palestinians the right to return to their homes, it razed well over 400 villages to prevent them from returning to the country of their birth. So why is wishing to return equivalent to wishing to destroy Israel? Because it would threaten the "Jewish" nature of the state.

The usual description, "fled or were expelled," of what occured in 1948 is in itself a whithwash of those events. Zionists led by David Ben-Gurion conducted an ethnic cleansing campaign, historians who gained access to Israeli archives 30 years later have shown that it was deliberate and systematic.

The following is a list of Zionist excuses for that ethnic cleansing, you will find they're repeated over and over again by supporters of Israel:
1. The Palestinians left their not because homes because Arab governments told them to, not because of any military action by the Zionist forces,
2. The Zionists had to get rid of Palestinians because they were anti-Semitic savages who might threaten the Jews
3. The land belonged to the Jews because God gave it to them,
4. The Jews deserve a state of their own because every other religion in the world has one,
5. The Jews deserve a state of their own in Palestine because the Germans had committed genocide against them,
6. The Zionists accepted the U.N. partition plan, and the Arabs rejected it, and therefore it was fine to commit a lot of massacres to expel the Palestinians who only got what they deserved,
7. All the mass killings of people (and there were quite a few cases of people being lined up, shot and dumped in mass graves) were just accidents. The Zionists had no intention of expelling the Palestinians,
8. There never were any Palestinians anyway, they came from somewhere else

The honest truth is, the main Zionist leadership of Israel wants as much territory as it thinks it can get with as few Palestinians.

i am jewish and i believe not only because i am jewish but because i am true to my religion that israel belongs to the jews i know that this conflict goes back thousands of years and that palestine ( Israel to me) i find that they have no need to kill innocent people and kidnap 3 israeli soldiers fighting for their religion and their country just to get at the government this is wrong they are killing to get back at government leaders. i believe that israel are just standing up for themselves and when they try to make peace palastine start war again and this is what is making israel unsafe for the jews to return. it may as well be the holocaust all over again

I think any conflict is terrible. I'm a firm believer in using my words instead of my fists. Sadly most of the world doesn't agree. Innocent people are being killed, that's never pleasing to God. Even though I think we should try to solve problems peacefully, I stand behind Israel.
