I have to agree. Bill Russell changed the way the game was played by blocking shots and directing them towards his teammates instead of just swatting them into the stands like so many players today seem to want to do. His blocked shots led to fast breaks and points on the offensive end.

i in my opinion think of kobe isn't the final, yet between the final. He can get incredibly grasp and hit any shot it incredibly is mandatory, so as that factors him from a ton of persons. no longer a lot of human beings can do this and he has an extremely long selection he can hit threes from 25 ft out or so. He replaced into by no potential a great team participant till he observed he hogs too plenty while Shaq left. D; bummer, he's now averaging around 5 assists in line with interest. Jordan replaced into fabulous too, yet he's distinctive to Kobe simply by fact he replaced into an interior participant that likes utilising into the lane from the front. Kobe replaced into extra of a fringe guy, and if he did pass interior he might in lots of situations pass baseline for the opposite. i do no longer think of roughly Championships or rings or any award while it comprises a great participant, nor do i think of a few one time overall performance that i doubt will ever ensue returned, a great participant can carry a team that may no longer that great. Allen Iverson carried his seventy six'ers a ton with in common terms the help of Dikembe Mutumbo and kobe '09 and '10 replaced into by pau gasol and that i've got faith MWP ( Ron Artest )

I agree: Bill Russell it is!

Bill is a "large" guy, but his size did not deprive him of the quickness he needed to be a great defender. He was one of the first marquee players who specialized in defense. He certainly scored his points, but he really introduced the concept of defense-defense-defense! to the NBA.

Bill Russell, without a doubt. Not only did he block shots, he kept them in play and frequently swatted them to teammates leading to easy fast break baskets. Today, most shot blockers swat it into the third row and pump their chests, while (duh!) the other team still has possession of the ball!
Number 2--a very underrated guy--Bobby Jones, who had the nickname, "The Secretary of Defense."

It would have to be Bill Russell.....but I don't think that Rodman got enough credit as well.

Bruce Bowen. I think any time you can successfully piss your opponent off, you've done your job. He's not dirty, just an excellent pest.
