There is a straight white line appearing on my laptop screen. It runs across from one end to the other. It suddenly started appearing.

Does one here know the possible cause of this and how it could be fixed.

Many thanks in advance.

Likely LCD.

plugin a desktop monitor cable into laptop, if it displays good picture then the system board is OK.

detach LCD, and use another complete set of LCD.

replace inverter and test, if it still has same problem, then replace LCD.

good luck.

Kurt,

This is usually caused by some sort of pressure that was applied to the laptop screen. I believe it's called tab seperation and it causes vertical or horizontal lines on LCD screens.

You will have to replace the screen to rid of the lines. A good place to look is http://www.screentekinc.com

I'm don't have a clue as to what specifically caused your problem. However, here is a site that has several software tools to help you fix it if it is possible.

Hope this helps. Good Luck!!!
