We still have the burn the witch at the stake mentality .
We never work to save money and prevent crime by giving access to money housing and temporary aid to people in need . Crime becomes the only solution .And at $30-45,000 a year for care for them it seems investing in their problems would be more beneficial .

Crime is everywhere... it is just Media that doesn't allowed us to know what happened "everywhere" around the world..

(or probably media doesn't care what happened in some "world corners")

i've got laughed at why the fly on the wall is being so nosy. What the fly on the wal thinks of what I do,while the fly makes this is existence by using mountain climbing on excrement and feeding on this is laughable in assessment.

"Crime" in the USA is inflated for a simple reason: we as a country have many more dark-skinned minorities than most other industrialized countries.

Since a dark-skinned minority is more likely to spend some time in jail than a light-skinned person for doing the same thing, we have more jails, more people in prison and a much bigger legal system.

Further, considering the existence of ghettoes where such minorities are kept, is not unexpected that some among them grow angry with the system and escalate from a small misdemeanor (which lands them in jail, where they are further mistreated) to a felony, and from there to a major crime (like aggravated assault or murder).

It's significant that such minorities don't become a "problem" in other parts of the world. This can be in part because their numbers are small, hence the majority is not particularly vicious toward them as they are in the USA.

where everyone fears the police for good reasons [corrupt, violent, abusive, etc.] the proportions of crimes reported to the police are much smaller than actually committed.

In repressive countries like that, [just ask any Cuban you meet traveling outside his country -- whoops! they can't travel outside Cuba -- can't get permission and can't afford to] people settle their own grudges the old-fashioned way -- they get even later.

Uniformity because of police/military repression isn't for me, ty, even if it does hold the 'crime rate' down. [Besides, would you trust the Cuban government to tell the truth?? Did Saddam's government tell the truth? Get real.]

Amazing. Alabama recently passed a law that allows us the right to shoot anyone on our property who we feel threatens our lives. Our crime and theft rate dropped by 60%, practically overnight! :)

I just love how you gun control people want to make us sitting ducks!

What is the crime rate in our country any of your concern anyway? Jealous that you can't afford a gun?

Yeah , I do . And I also notice how many of their economic systems are in shambles . I also noticed that because they have capitulated to the lowest common denominators , that they have vast wastelands of failed social programs . Yeah , I noticed !!!
