most virus are spread through IE. IE is not a safe browser. you should use a more secure browser to protect your PC from virus.

i recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar. firefox can block any any popup and disable any virus and adware, spyware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE browser. as you know, most of virus spread throught internet and webpage.

besides, firefox is much smaller than IE, so it run faster than IE.

Seems like this bugger kills off online scanning. You really should have had some programs at hand like AVG, Spybot or the like that scan without Internet. It's not too late. Maybe this bugger doesn't stop you downloading. Then go to the site I mentioned midway into the answer and Search. If it does, go to a friend's relative's house and ask to use his/her PC for a while. With his/her permission download and put some Security programs onto a CD and run them on your PC. Better do scanning in Safe Mode. While your PC is starting up, repeatedly hit F8 till booting options appear. Choose 'Safe Mode'

'Infested' is commonly used for spyware these days, so you can never be sure that's not causing the problem. Antivirus apps don't kill off spyware. To be safe, take all programs

Go to your friends/relative's PC, then to this site for free yet powerful security software.

Search for these (with no spelling mistakes!):
Spybot - Search & Destroy
Ad - Aware SE Personal
AVG Antivirus
CCleaner

NEVER have two antivirus apps.

Lots of free AV's are virused themselves, you should get a good AV package. Bullguard is excellent, wouldn't recommend Norton at all my PC was a mess with it. *HINT* Buy Bullguard, but last years its cheaper and updated immediately and everyday when you buy it so it will be up to the minute and is brill. Had no probs for 3 years with it. AVG is ok but not as good.

download and run ad-aware. This should clear and trojans and malware running riot.

reboot and go to symantec and download a trial of norton 360'

If you are lucky your will get away with installing out and thus clear your system.

Using taskmanager and Processlibrary as a resource you can also look at clearing then one at a time is you have any tenacious ones.

If that fails holler and I'll see if I can help further

Either you need to buy a new computer or buy a good virus protection. Be sure to get a new updated version as new viruses come out every day.
