In my class that I teach I tell my kids to use ml for fluids, that would be liquids or gases. When dealing with solids they use cubic centimeters.

Really they can be used interchangeably because 1mL is the same amount of volume as 1 cubic centimeter.

When you have a volume of between 0.1 and 1000 mL. People like to deal with nice numbers, not numbers like 0.000000000000002541 or 543200000000000. So pick your unit to get a nice number.

Also, mL is the symbol for millilitres. When you start to get into more complex stuff you need to make sure you're using the right case, or you'll confuse people.

It is a very convenient use for all days purpose and chemical manipulation. When you do an experiment, you will take small quantities of some milliliters
