3x + 4 = 16

3x + 4 - 4 = 16 - 4

3x = 12

3x/3 = 12/3

x = 12/3

x = 4

Add -4 to both sides of the eq.

3x = 16 - 4 = 12 ==> 3x = 12

Now divide by three both sides:

x = 4

[3x/2] + 2 - 2 = 8 - 2
which gives you

[3x/2] = 6

multiply both sides by 2
[3x/2] X 2 = 6 X 2
which gives you

3x = 12

divide both sides by 3
3x/3 = 12/3
which gives you
