the only person i know of is a young lady in 1968 , called MARY HOPKINS SHE has a beautiful voice , and she also plays the guitar. , SHE was born in Pontardawd , Glamorganshire Wich is in wales in ENGLAND. ONE NIGHT one of the beatles PAUL McCARTNEY OF THE BEATLES HEARD HER SINGING , AND he asked her their and then if she would like to come and sing on the beatles lable which was THE APPLE LABLE .. THE Beatles decided to let MARY Hopkins sing THOSE WERE THE DAYS , , AND THIS song was written by GENE RASKIN WHO WAS singing in a group called the limelighters PAUL MaCartney produced the record for Mary Hopkins , and with in 5 weeks after it was released it made number one in England and two weeks later it made number one in the U.S.A CHARTS . By the way Mary Hopkins was born on the 3rd of may 1953. IF you want this single you can get it on a 45 , label Apple Number 2

"Those Were the Days" is Mary Hopkin's debut single. It is credited to Gene Raskin, who put English lyrics to the Russian song "Dorogoi dlinnoyu", written by Boris Fomin with words by the poet Konstantin Podrevskii
