I remember Empire Day (may 24th) when I was at junior school and how proud we all felt singing "the Empire Day song" whatever it was. I am proud to be English and proud to be British...why is it that the whinging Scots are such, arrogant, narrow minded bigots ? The sooner they break from the Union the better for the rest of us.

With Ruth Kelly at the helm, this "British Day" is doomed before it has even begun.
This is just another example of MPs living in another world. How naive of them to think that a one day holiday will bring everyone closer together. People will just end up doing what they do on any other holiday.

I've a better idea. Have a day of mourning and remembrance for all of those killed in the building of this brutal empire. Would be far more appropriate.
