It must be more than pure skin pigmentation...I am just wondering how racists justify their beliefs.

As I understand it. The more different a person is to you in skin tone and culture the harder it is to understand. We all believe that our culture is correct. Something that seems different is alien to us and at a base level, we are scared by differences and therefore over the centuries/ millennia. An understanding grows that if someone looks/does something differently to you, they must be treated with caution and even suspicion.

This has grown to lead to the ghetto mentality on a global basis. I'm English; if you're not, you're not as good as me (which is rubbish by the way). If you're not English, you're different and I will not be relaxed with you (again - rubbish).

However it is this way of thinking that has brought racism to the level it is. I just wish people would realise that we are all the same colour .... brown - just different shades of it.

Personally, I'm beige.

Ignorance

2007-06-05 07:22:43 · answer #3 · answered by Anonymous · 0 0

They might say its economic reasons, but its really caused by ignorance and mostly fear, (of something different to themselves). Its a sure sign on insecurity and anger within a person.

Ask any person who says they're racist why and why only to those people and not others, IE, (say racist towards blacks but not to an Irish person) and the only answer they can give is 'well they're different, I know them!', or something along those lines. So proves my point exactly. Their is no logic behind their argument

Pure ignorance

ignorance towards a persons belief or religion especially if they dont take time to understand it, also ignorance towards other peoples customs is another one, no person has a right to judge without justification or hard evidence anothers beliefs or customs ,when mostly a racist person forms opinions out of ignorance and lack of understanding for anothers beliefs. mostly a racist doesn't like anything that is different to themselves.

I believe that racism is caused by unhappiness in people's lives and they look to blame others for that. Often times they like to generalise them into groups of people. Thus racism is born .
