Some of these may work better in a different order, but you decide:

1. Deciding what to communicate - ("the kettle is boiling", or 'Your skirt is too short", or "I am too tired to play now")

2. Deciding the emotional state of the hearer (maybe too hassled to hear any confrontational stuff, or too something)

3. Decide when to say the desired thing (pick a time when the listener is not hungry, angry, lonely, or tired)

4. Decide what method of communication to use (phone, letter, fact-to-face - - - what ever)

5. Pray for wisdom to do a good job

6. Launch in with the thing, and do not stress over the outcome.

If your motivations are pure, (e. g. not to hurt or malign another) then the outcome of a communication is not up to you, but is the responsibility of the hearer.
