Francophile- She asked a very direct question. What you inferred from that was entirely down to you. Attempting to dissuade people from asking questions only encourages them to discuss it more.

Regarding the original question- Here is a little more information about the IVF process, in case you are interested :http://www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk/articles/article.aspx?articleId=460

In this case, yes. Sometimes IVF is used to impregnate surrogates.

IVF is used when couples have difficulty making babies the natural way. Sometimes it's a low sperm count; sometimes it's a defect in the mother like blocked fallopian tubes (which is also dangerous as you run the risk of an ectopic pregnancy); sometimes it's just nothing in particular.

The controversy surrounding IVF is, as with nature, conception is hit and miss. Even if you inject viable sperm directly into a healthy egg, it doesn't necessarily mean it's going to take. So doctors harvest multiple eggs and only keep the ones which develop into embryos which they can implant into the mother. The rest are frozen or discarded.

In the days after the 'abduction' police thought possibly a potential donor may have been behind the disappearance. They subsequently took strands of hair from a brush and did a DNA test, which showed Mr McCann is Madeleine's biological father

Why on earth should you think this has any relevance? It only serves to give inspiration to the fantasty/conspiracy theory brigade.

Stop encouraging all this inappropriate speculation.

If you've got nothing genuinely helpful to say - keep it buttoned.

I'd imagine so. I'm just wondering if they were surrogates and somehow or another the other parents have kidnapped the baby. Just a thought?

yes depends though, if they had donated sperm that's different but generally yes IVF means they are both bio parents.

Of course it does. But even if they weren't, it doesn't matter. Not a bit. She is their baby. They are her Mum & Dad. They did goof up big time & are paying the price. God bless them all...
