Yeah cat's will do that - they're nocturnal! They're probably annoyed that YOU sleep all through their day time!

You'll just have to deal I'm afraid. Get loads of toys and a scratch post to keep kitty amused at night, and just shut your bedroom door so she can't pester you. They can meow and scratch at the door but it's not like they're as noisy as dogs - as long as you CONSISTENTLY ignore him at the bedroom door he'll give up.

In time you may be able to switch your cat's body clock around as he learns you're going to be around to play during the day but not at night.

Cat's are nocturnal, we're diurnal, you just have to make it work!

I have a cat that would rather go outside at night but I make sure she and my other 2 are in by dark.night is when they're more likely to get hurt by other critters. Also, cats tend to play more at night for some reason.i don't know why, my cats chase each other ang play so much more when I'm sleeping, they sound like a buch of kids running around!!!

I don't think there is an answer to your question, that's cats for you, its what they do. Some tell you to keep him awake in the day, well, its not a child, how do you keep a cat awake unless you are bugging it all day. No one has time for that. Is he a young kitten, they seem to be more active, so maybe as he gets older he'll settle down a bit, Good luck.

3 am and my cat is wide awake and yowling... we can't let them out at night because we've got coyotes - something you might want to look into. Sometimes racoons can do damage, too, and of course cars, wolves, etc...

I think the best thing is to ignore his pleas at the door and keep your bedroom door closed - hopefully then he'll get bored and go to sleep. We do that with ours and it sort of works... the cat that's up now usually doesn't start until 4 or so (dawn), but he saw me awake and seized the opportunity :) Good luck!

Please don't let your cat out at night; there is danger from people, cars, and wildlife. Is this a younger cat? I have 9 cats and have found as they age they will adapt more to your own sleeping habits. If the cat is occupied during the day (scratching post, toys, cat "gym") he will be less likely to want to prowl all night.

My little kitten's the same! They are nocturnal and their hunting instincts seem to escalate at night time! My kitten seems to have decided that she's a ferrite and just burrows her way through our duvet and gets in and starts biting our hands and legs which is not a great way to be woken up...
If she's too young to be let out then I think you should just teach her to stay out of your bedroom and IGNORE the pleading you're bound to get until she learns to go and play elsewhere.... I'll be trying this myself tonight as I'm losing much needed sleep! Good luck

Our kitten is exactly the same. Shes 12 weeks and sleeps all day and plays all night, she is practising her hunting for the big wide world.
