umm... maybe you should try telling us what they said. it would help.
edit:
ok, just got your email, and yeah, that's pretty bad... even ''horrible'' would be an understatement. those guys are out there, and i suppose they always will be, but you can't judge the bible by one man's sick interpretation of it. the bible teaches that we are all equal- black, white, rich, poor, gay, straight, whatever... no man, woman, or child is anyone better or any worse than another. we are ALL sinners, but we can ALL become the children of God. it's really unfortunate that this kind of bigotry goes on, and you can trust in the fact that the preacher who said that has his ''reward'' ready for him when he dies. unless stops preaching hatred and judgment; unless he repents of his sin and starts preaching the gospel (which means ''good news''), that ''reward'' won't be in heaven.
actually, i have relatives in topeka who go to a lutheran church, and that guy (is his name fred phelps?) picketed their church one time because the people from that church picketed HIM. lol. so he came with signs calling all the congregants ''fags,'' and ''queers'' and everything else his tiny little pea-brain could cook up. lol. i'm from missouri, and when i read someone's answer that said something about the guy in kansas, i instantly recognized who you were talking about. we've heard about him for years, and i'm sad to see that he hasn't changed.
sorry if i offended anyone with my language. i'm only making a reference to what this guy does for a living.

Read the Bible for yourself, and think about what you are reading. The members of WBC are sick, twisted individuals, interpreting it to serve thier own ends. They aren't being influenced by the Bible, they are influenced by Fred Phelps, and the last place I would look for a decent interpretation of anything, Bible or otherwise..... The Bible is like anything else, in the wrong hands, it is used to manipulate and cause harm, you could say that about the Bible, money, or a toaster. It's not the message, it's the messenger that is the problem there.

The Bible is the inspired word of God. How people read it or quote it or interpreter it, does not change the fact that it is God's word.
What people fail to realise is the truth that 'the Bible is not open to any private interpretation, for no prophecy of Scripture came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.'
So until people realise that, the only person needed in interpreting the Bible is the Holy Spirit, they will always go astray in their pursuit. The Holy Spirit is the sure interpreter of God's word, for He is the Author.

Anything can be perverted by someone with a mind to do so. Westboro Baptist is in Kansas, does that mean Kansas is a bad influence?

How does that church quote the bible? That would be the only way we can discuss this. Have a good day

There are a lot more examples of bad teachings from the Bible than that!
But I believe in the Bible, and I don't agree with any of them. Last I heard, they were posing as Christians, and that guy in South America too. They were actually other than Christian, posing as bad Christians, and do you think that those people are fooled or what?
