I think what you are saying sir (I may of course be wrong) is that there is a place in human life for mythology, for stories, and for appreciating what conclusions our ancient ancestors found to the eternal conundrums 'why are we here' 'how did we get here' 'where did life start', as a part of our ongoing human development and understanding. Mythologies, stories and beauty don't have to be 100% true and real and 'the Word of God' to have incredible meaning. I don't know why people insist on believing (or needing to believe) that this stuff is absolute historical reality, seems stubborn and insecure to me.

Well I do believe in God and God is the truth, so If I am to have full faith in God I then must believe in what he tells me.
As far as thinking for myself,I tried that and learned that I can not depend on my own thoughts sometimes, I have proved to myself time and time again that I am wrong when I try to depend on my own views and eyes so the only wisdom I have is a gift from God. So I get my (what you call rubbish) from Gods word. And the Adam and Eve question has a lot of meaning behind it. It was Gods first creation of man and tells us how the first sin was done. The 10 points I don't care about, I can't spend them or gain anything from them, If there was a way I could give you all the points I have got here I would happily do it, I don't answer questions for points but only to give an opinion of what I believe is Gods will.

I'm not sure what you're asking. I mean...you're asking why the stories of Adam and Eve and their family are featured so prominently, in the bible. The truth be known, they're not that heavily featured.
There are others who were featured way more than this couple. For example: the disciples-John, Peter, Paul, Matthew. These are some of the 13 that you hear the most. Yes, there was 13. http://www.philosophyforum.net/Religion/Thirteen/13%20Disciples.htm There was 12 until Judias betrayed Christ. That position was filled later.
But the real questions should be, "Why are Adam, Eve and their immediate family so 'stand-outish'? What makes them so special?"
It's because they are the initial parents to everyone who is or ever was on this earth. It was through Adam and Eve that eventually Christ was born, who was sent to this earth for the soul purpose of giving up his perfect life as a perpetual sacrifice, in exchange for the perfect life that Adam and Eve once had, but gave up when they ate the forbidden fruit. The bible says that sin entered this earth through Adam and therefore all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. It is only through Christ's sacrifice of a perfect life that could measure up and equal that which Adam gave up.
This is why Adam and Eve are so predominate, in the bible. They were the beginning and the reason for the end. Eventually, God will decide that he's given enough time for the people of our world to accept Christ's sacrificial blood offering and repent. This will then answer Satan's accusations, against God, that people worship him only for what they can get. This will show all those who love God because he is deserving of love. Satan even used Christ to try to challenge God’s right to rulership and worship. He attempted to tempt Christ, the night before he was crucified, by offering him food, water and even everything his eye could see if Christ would only bow down and worship him. This is the reason Satan was cast from heaven. He was jealous of the worship that God was given. Therefore Adam and Eve were God's way of answering Satan's accusation. They were perfect humans, put in a perfect world and ordered to be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth.
WOULD MAN WORSHIP GOD FOR WHAT THEY COULD GET FROM HIM OR BECAUSE HE IS DESERVING OF SUCH WORSHIP?

People have challenged me on my beliefs, why I believe the Bible to be factual. You are right, it's all a matter of faith. I expect there are plenty of christians who believe in evolution and billions of years of history, I just choose not to and it doesn't make my life any worse for it! I have read books for and against but in the end, it doesn't matter. All that matters is what Jesus did for me, that's the whole point.
People fixate on Adam and Eve for various reasons, I am only guessing but I think it's a familiar story, being the first story, so people know it and feel free to pick on it. It seems ludicrous to many that the rules we live by now (laws of incest for example) once did not exist. Laws against incest did not come until the time of Noah. Logically, the first people created in a perfect creation had perfect genes and the interbreeding did not cause defects. Just something I read once, not necessarily the truth!

Whether or not you believe that the Bible is the word of God is a matter of your faith and that is entirely up to you, but does that have to make it factually correct?
Have you considered that you might be wrong? Just because you don't believe doesn't make you right either.
I'm not going to answer the Adam and Eve question because I don't need to prove to you anything, because you obviously aren't that interested in knowing the truth. If you were you wouldn't attack.
Faith isn't something you have to prove. If it was it wouldn't be faith.
If this is your wisdom then I pity any one who has to listen to the rubbish. Its not wisdom its just your sad opinion.

You have to look at things in an esoteric light, and if you take things literally you will start to drift.
There are a few reasons why people pay so much attention to the story of adam and eve:
1) Its the most famous story of the Fall of Man. How we lost our touch with divinity in some way or another and we went downhill from there on.
2)The awkward notion of incest that most people tip toe around.
3)The fact that the first woman eating some fruit pretty much ruined everything for everybody. Goodbye perfection hello birth pains and loincloths. People in biblical times are recorded as living much longer life spans than what is now common, possibly showing how over time we drifted farther and farther away from the higher state we used to be at. All thanks to some curious broad.
4)How God is portrayed as a kid with a magnifying glass burning ants. Put candy in front of a child and then tell him "Now don't eat this." You're just asking for it then. God shoulda known, hell, I wouldve snagged a piece or two probably. Especially if snakes started talkin to me, ya might as well.

Who cares where they get it from. It is ancient myth. It has no relevance on today. The past should be left in the past. You cannot change what was. You cannot live in the future but you can change it. You can only live in the present and therefore it stands to reason that by making changes now you affect the future. Thus, think before you act or say. Actions have consequences. Think, before you condemn others to an eternity in hell because their ability to reason tells them the adam and eve story does not make sense. You create hostility between you and them. You preach love and forgiveness on the one hand but condemn their souls on the other. Think, all the hostility towards religion is a matter of cause and effect...

Is your question about Adam and Eve?
Or about people who think for themselves?
I don't know much about Adam and Eve, other than what I've been told or what I read in the Bible.
I did not think up the original story of Adam and Eve, so I am unable to advise you about the "why" the story exists.
Your wisdom is appreciated....I'm in the pub right now....and I look forward to seeing who gets the 10 points, when I sober up!

If you believe Moses, the o.t., and christians then it is important as the introduction of evi into the world, the fall of mankind, and hence our need for redemption. If you believe Jesus in The Apocryphon of John it is important because that is where The Light of the world was introduced to mankind. Be smart, no redeemer necessary, just follow the Light within you.

I don't think this is really the answer you're looking for, but I believe people take the Bible so literally because that is what they have been taught to do all of their lives. I think these types of people adhere to it so much only because they are afraid of Hell; not because they love God. I usually find that the people who use the Bible as a form of support to help them stay "on the right path" are more willing to understand the beliefs of others rather than striking them down and saying they're wrong as do the people who take the Bible word for word and believe nothing else.
