The best way I have found is to let your hair dry naturally, in the wind if you have a place that is breezy... using a hair dryer really does dry out your hair and makes the hair cuticle rough, so not shiny.
Don't ask me exactly why this works, but if you have the time letting it dry naturally while running your fingers through it really does give you the bouncy, shiny hair that all products promise but rarely supply.
good luck.
PS When I don't have the time I dry my hair in front of a fan set on low, this works almost as well, but can be cold during winter.

Well my mom is a hairdresser and she taught me how to look after my hair fairly well. Dying really affects your hair. My mother always told me to try to aviod dying my hair because it dries it out. As for fraying ends, get your hair cut. It is good to cut your hair every so often if you notice split ends or some damage. As for the feeling of gross hair, try switching your shampoo and conditioner, and also consider how you wash your hair. I was taught to was my scalp and all my hair with the first shampoo. Then with the second shampoo, I don't wash my scalp again. That is where all the oils are located. Avoid washing your scalp a second time. Then when applying condition, do the same as the second shampoo. This prevents your scalp from becoming "gross". Also, do you use hair products? Hair products are said to help hold your hair and do this and that. Though, they actually damage your hair. I only use hair products on special occasions. Also, avoid using a blow dryer and even a hair straighter!! They are SO bad for your hair! Try only doing that about once a week or so if you do straighten. If you want your hair to dry, wrap it in a towel for a while or consider head banging. I know it sounds strange but my boyfriend has really long, curly hair, and thats how he drys it! Though, be careful about your neck. Hopefully this helps! Take Care.

Unfortunately brunettes tend to have shinier hair than blondes, as a blonde myself, I make sure I use a really hydrating conditioner, like Infusium23 or Garnier Sleek or Long ( I have really long hair). Easy shine trick, rinse your hair in cool water at the end of your shower, it helps seal the cuticle and makes hair look shiny. Take care of your hair, it's really imprtant for shine value. Try not to apply heat unless absolutely necessary, heat reopens the cuticle and makes hair look dull. I know you said no product, but try a de-frizzer/shine enhancer like Citre Shine, but go gently with it.
Good Luck!

Wash your hair with a paste made from the leaf of the shoe flower plant. This is simple and can be be made by yourself.
